I didn't enjoy Y the last man, but I like a lot Saga by the same author. Both stories are interesting!

Abhishek | 25 comments Interesting, I'll have to pick this up at some point. Although, I will hold off until they finish the complete story. I've read enough manga to know what it is to wait for your favourite stories to continue!

Also, curious, any particular reason why you didn't enjoy "Y"?

Really I don't know. I like dystopias, the idea there is good and, as I read Saga, I'm pretty sure it's well executed. Maybe my point of view of what I could do in this situation is too different than the path chosen by the writter. In Saga, nothing is realistic and the characters are all weird, so it's more enjoying the fun and the crazy ideas than thinking about how evolves some post-apocalyptic situation.

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) You have great books in your plan Abhishek! Specially The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, it's such a funny book. I've been thinking about reading Memories of My Melancholy Whore in the week of "a book your mom loves" and The Satanic Verses in "a book a friend recommended". I also got Dracula sitting in my bookshelf but I still haven't decided if I'll read it this year or not. And I might join you in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo!

Incidentally, I've had both Hitchhiker and Dracula sitting on my shelf for a while now, and this seems like a really good way to dust those off and get going!

Garcia Marquez and Dostoyevsky rank among my favourite authors and this is a very good excuse to read more from them.

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments I love Fight Club. For the Old Man and the Sea, it seems boring at first but it's quite interesting if you think of the sea as a character too.
I had American Psycho in mystery/thriller, but I changed it to a book that scares me.

Abhishek | 25 comments Week 1: done and dusted!

Now on to my least favourite genre and the book I'm possibly looking forward to the least in this list.

Ana wrote: I had American Psycho in mystery/thriller, but I changed it to a book that scares me. " My reasoning with that category is going for a book the idea of reading which scares me, as opposed to going for a scary book. Which, going by my taste, is probably going to be a "classical" nineteenth century romance novel. Or the mass-produced nonsense that passes off as literature in my country nowadays (cf. week 20). Although, seeing as that is also going to be my week 20, and also most likely my week 31, I'll probably be better off reading Emma or Wuthering Heights in this week instead.

Jessy (jollybookshelf) Oooooh Dracula. I might join you on that one

All aboard the Transylvania train! The more, the merrier!

Abhishek | 25 comments I just finished my fifth book, and I took much longer with 1984 that I had thought earlier. I've been extremely busy in the past few weeks, and unfortunately this frenetic pace is going to stay this way for the next few weeks. Most of my reading in February has been done in flights and hotel rooms, and this is going to continue a little longer. March will hopefully bring some much needed respite and some more reading time, I hope!

Narma | 49 comments Abhishek, you have an awesome list. I was debating on reading Mein Kampf for the banned books week. It was between that or Satanic Versus. Is access to Mein Kampf illegal in your country? I'm really not sure if it is legal where I live (Satanic Verses is banned here!), and I don't want to get in trouble, so I'm still debating what I should read for that week. Or if I should travel to a country it is legal in (like Malaysia next door), and read it there :)

I live in the US right now, and none of them are illegal here. I don't think Mein Kampf is illegal in India (where I'm from), I had a friend with a copy of the book. But yeah, The Satanic Verses is illegal in India.
