Hello members!

READ FIRST!!!!

Here is the genre/theme suggestion thread for BOTM June. This thread will close on May 11th, and a poll will be created.

Since some people may have trouble getting books at this time, we are chossing our BOTM early to give everyone enough time to get the book.

Have fun with your suggestions and come up with something unique and creative! It doesn't just have to be normal genres!

Rules:

1.) Only one suggestion per person; if you suggest more than one I will ask you to pick which one you would rather have entered into the poll
2.) All theme suggestions already fall under YA
3.) If you suggest a theme and it gets picked in the poll, please suggest a book since it was your idea! :)
4.) Also- after the theme and final book is picked , if a book you
voted for won the poll, you must participate when possible in
discussions (even if what you voted for didn't win, still
participate!)

KM Abiduzzaman (1) I am a little bit disappointed with the light participation in discussions and challenges on BOTM and other books compared to 'games' participation. One of the major reasons for this might be- there are numerous YA groups on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ (for example 'Addicted to YA'. The fun fact I have discovered that the majority of the members of this group are also members of Addicted to YA).

(2) So my point is, we shouldn't be confined only within YA books. We should explore other genres to ignite our reading habit ( according to studies, exploring different genres is pretty much helpful to avoid Reader's Block .)

(3) Reading different books, sharing our thoughts as well as participating in 'fun games' might be good for this group, I think.

Well this is a strictly YA group, so I don't think we can change that:(
But maybe in the Challenge Suggestions, you could suggest we do something outside of YA. But the majority of members in this group are in the YA range, so they may not want to read outside of that.

Abrianna (abriannaimbrogno) I agree with Tessa

I think teenagers are extremely good at accept anything. So why we restrict this group only to YA?
Let's try other genres as well as YA.

Yeah I agree with Tessa and Abrianna. I know there are some younger readers in the group who may not be comfortable with reading adult books, so it wouldn't be fair to make our BOTM one. Like Tessa said though we could try and do a challenge for people who want to read some books other than YA.

message 14: by Abrianna (new)

Abrianna (abriannaimbrogno) Also eventually as this group grows, more participation will happen

I think I should make myself clear. I am not talking about adult books. I am talking about books which aren't YA but still go very well with teenagers.

message 17: by Abrianna (new)

Abrianna (abriannaimbrogno) The first one is young adult... people can still suggest those books. I mean some people consider the ACOTAR series as adult and young adult but we still read that for BOTM

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I think it kind of depends on the specific book. If you want to suggest a book that is not specifically YA, we (the mods) would be happy to look at it and talk it over if it can be included.

Do you mean like a short story challenge or something? That's a good idea! :D

Yes, mainly short story and poetry.

Would you want to do it with like, prompts or just a free/open type write?

I think prompt creates a little bit of friction to creativity. So I will recommend to freewriting.

Ok cool! We can definitely get a writing challenge started- I just need to let the other mods know and see what they think.

Thank god you like the idea. I was so afraid that I again had to face 'mass movement'.

So I'm thinking of making a whole folder on the home page devoted to writing. Then, there could be a free writing folder, where members can write whatever they want. There could also be a spot with some different prompts or ideas just in case people need inspiration. I would also make a poetry writing thread. Any other ideas of writing threads?

Sounds perfect.
another thread can be created for short article writing. For example, you love art. So if you want to share some interesting facts or experiences about art you can write it in the 'article thread'.
