Vanesa, I hope it is amazing too. I know it is a much loved favorite of romance readers everywhere. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

I edited the title of your post to include the author's name. We're trying to keep the formatting the same (Book by Author) on all the posts to make them easier to find and to make it easier to avoid duplicate threads for the same book during the same challenge week. :)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments I've always associated it both ways, war and romance. I asked some friends what they recommended and this was the top one that I either had not read or was not planning on reading for a different challenge. I will definitely love to chat about it when I am done. I will be interested to see if we have different take-aways since we have slightly different expectations.

Just a question: has anybody actually finished this book? I'm only about 25% done :P

Tammy This is a great book. I read it several years ago. I don't typically re-read books but this is one that tempts me!

This is definitely one of my favorite books. I've always been tempted to re-read it but it's such a large undertaking. I don't remember how long it took it me but I want to say close to the entire summer. I feel like so many people on here finish books much quicker than I do though. If you finish it in a week I'll be truly impressed!

Labeba Salameh (labebabooks) | 47 comments I love this book
and yes if I have good copy I will reread it many time

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments @Vanesa - I agree completely, I find the classics harder to read than modern novels. I guess it's mostly due to the language & flow often being so different to what I encounter on a daily basis.

That said, with some exceptions of course, I find them infinitely more enjoyable, satisfying & memorable. It's a cliché, but there's a reason why they're classics.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I find that so much of what I've read recently (modern) is too focused on trying to be gimmicky, uses way too many overblown metaphors or reads like a thesaurus vomited on the page. What I want to read is simply a good story with characters that I can connect with.

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I'm a little late on this, so I'll have to speed-read this. Luckily, I've already read it before. What I admire most about Margaret Mitchell's writing is that her descriptions are so passionate and vivid!

Brittany (tinsel hoarding bookdragon) (gamerkiti) So I've finally decided to tackle this book for week 1 even though we are in week 14! I origianlly bought this book for my ipad about 3 years ago and started it and just was so intimidated by how long it was that I just gave up and put the book aside. What is funny is I read all of the twilight series in about 4 days which adds up to just about the same amount of pages give or take a few of course, but when it is all in one book is just is intimidating...but I'm putting my fears of never finishing the book aside and am going to sit down and read it! after all, you can't finish a book if you never truly start it :)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Don't let your fears overcome you! I was SO scared when I read this, but trust me, it's worth the whole struggle! I managed to finish it in 7 days. The writing is so beautiful, and the characters so complex, that it'll instantly become one of your favorites!

That definitely makes me feel better about starting this book. I've heard so often that it is amazing, I think I am more excited about finally understanding all of the references though since I haven't even seen the movie! I feel so out of the loop on all aspects when it comes to Gone With the Wind

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) You know, watching the movie first may help you understand what's going on while you read the book, because the movie is basically just a summary with some excellent acting. I would highly recommend it!
