Rethinking how to classify.
I was originally going to use Beautiful You as a funny book but as much as it made me chuckle a few times, I wouldn't say it's funny. I guess we'll go with #16, A book by an author you love that you haven't read-although I don't know if say I "love" Palahniuk, more like I'm compelled to read him time after time even though his stuff gets stranger and stranger.
I am almost afraid to ask my mother to recommend a book to me. She did give me a copy of 50 Shades of Grey after all. ;)

I think I've finished 32 tasks so far. I'm still struggling to come up with books for some of the tasks. We'll see what happens I guess!
I've finished 25 of the 50ish books for the challenge so far and am reading another one right now...A Spool of Blue Thread for "book with a color in the title"

That's what I've been doing Lynn. For the most part I've just been reading what I want to read and if I can make it fit, great, if not, at least I'm reading what I want. I have a few books slotted for different tasks but I'm not prioritizing them over other things really.
I'm stuck on "A book you were supposed to read in school but didn't." There are some books I bascialy skimmed but none that I flat out didn't read at all. I guess I'll just go with one of those, maybe The Pearl since I missed a major event at the end by just skimming!

That same one is hard for me too because I went to a small HS and read all assigned reading. so nothing there. I didn't have to take any literature courses in college, so nothing there...
I may just look up books that are typically on HS or college reading list and pick one that I didn't read.

I minored in English in college and one course had a really heavy reading load. I skimmed The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Floating Opera. Maybe I'll use one of those.

I read a knitting mystery. Because most are so very bad.
I figure you could also count a book with a lot of low ratings pushing it to low 3s or something. That would def mean that it has bad reviews.
Also, I'm totally hoping the book I'm reading now makes me cry so I can count it towards that one.

I've read 2 books of a trilogy-Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. Now I'm trying to decide if I just want to read the third book for the trilogy requirement and find other books fill in for these two (A book set in high school and a book with a love triangle.) Decisions, decisions.
Me too, Lynn! Hence why I'm also slowly working my way thru the 1001 books to read before you die list.
Here's a list of books that can be used as inspiration for the Book you were supposed to read in school:

I have 6 tasks left! The "book based on it's cover" is really hard because the temptation is to read the back. I'm going to have to just grab and go!
18. A Pulitzer Prize Winner (The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao)
20. A book from the bottom of your to read pile (The Doctor's Wife)
22. A book that scares you (Working on-Let the Right One In)

25. A book you were supposed to read in high school but didn't (The Pearl)
50. A book you've started but never finished (Clash of Kings)
I have to say, I've really enjoyed this challenge and would definitely be up for doing it again. I'll post some of the reading tasks that are on that Seasonal Reading Challenge I was telling you about-maybe we can make up our own if we don't want to do another premade one.

I enjoyed this challenge very much too. Nice way to read different types of books.
I've really enjoyed it too. Something for me to chip away at aside from the 1001 books I should read before I die (I have hundreds of books left to read on that list!!)
at this point I have 8 books left on this challenge (2 of which are in progress) I can do it! I can do it! (I have some doubts ;) )

I have 4 left!!! I'm a little worried about finishing Clash of Kings on time for the "Book you've started but never finished" since it's a long as 2 books but there's a month left, right?
Me too! In addition to these 4 I have to read 3 others to get to my goal of 75 books for the annual Reading Challenge. I keep looking at the calendar and trying to figure out when I'll fit in all in. And we thought this was fun, right?
If it is any solace, ladies, I still have 4 books to finish for this challenge. I am down to this...
15. A popular author's first book:
18. A Pulitzer Prize winning book: (WIP: A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain)
45. A book set during Christmas:

And because I enjoy a good torture, Popsugar has the new challenge for 2016 posted. It's a bit shorter than last year - 40 choices
I was hoping they'd come out with another one! I do still like the idea of coming up with some tasks of our own too.
Thanks for sharing the list, Lynn. Looks like I might have a bit of a challenge ahead of me finding a book where the protagonist has the same occupation as me.

Two books to go!!! Because there are 50 tasks but 52 books (the trilogy) it looks like I'm done but I'm not. I'm reading/listening to Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'Easter by Lisa Patton and then I have to read The Doctor's Wife and I'm done!

How to participate?
Sign up for the challenge on our page. You can find it here: /challenges/...
You will be asked for the number of books that you are going to read (there are 50 criteria in the popsugar list..you can pick that number or another number) and the name of the shelf you will use for the challenge (goodreads will create the shelf for you if it doesn't already exist). You can all your shelf anything you want for example: 2015_challenge, 2015_popsugar_challenge, 2015_southshore_challenge. You get the idea.
Then as you read books that qualify for one of the criteria in the challenge, out the book on that shelf.
You can also create your list here in this topic to help keep track of which book you read for each criteria. Do this by cutting and pasting the template below as a reply to this topic. Then as you read a book for the challenge you can edit your post to add the name of the book. As people list their books I will put them in a summary post as the 2nd post in this topic so if you are looking for inspiration you can find some there. :)
You can also reply/post in this topic to ask for ideas on what might qualify for a given criteria. Example: "HELP!! What's a book with antonyms in the title?"
CUT & PASTE THE FOLLOWING INTO YOUR OWN REPLY IN THIS TOPIC AND THEN EDIT TO LIST YOUR SPECIFIC BOOKS AS YOU READ THEM ****
