The Lost Symbol
The Martian
Thr lost symbol, was ok, parta were oddly familiar. The martian i highly recommend, very good book indeed.
Not quite on track with where i need to be book wise as some of my books this year are quite big. Been fluish and blergh.

Have you considered participating in our Let's Turn Pages yearly challenge? It focuses on tracking the number of pages read instead of number of books.

I'm using this challenge to help keep me focused on things. Get a bit.more discipline, I tend to start and stop things all the time.

It was brilliant. Yeah much better now, didnt help i was 7 days on at work. But at least i can read now and thats whats really important!

The Magician's Nephew
Love the world of narnia so i thpught id give the books a go. Plus they are lighter reading being kids books can knock them out on my lunch breaks at work.

It was definatley a page turner. I wasnt overly surprised with the end. I really do love the 80s as well. The diana obsession wasnt really my cup of tea, i it seems odd to me considering their social group and their musical tastes that cherry wpuld be obsessed with her. But then i was only three in 1988, not as aware of how big a dealbshe was to the public.
I did at least get all the references. Made me want to watch pretty in pink again, cant beat a good john hughes movie.

Not a challenging read of course being a childrens book. As an adult you can read kids books again and see all the symbolism you missed as a child. Yes you can say there are religious tones that could be picked up on.
However when i was reading it i was mostly thinking, what i wouldnt give to find adventure myself in narnia. Because im a big child :-) .

Finished book number six last week. I found it enjoyable when i remembered to pick it up. Was stressed and tired from work, wasnt really in the mood. This is defininately a good read, i adore loki in this.

I enjoyed this much more than i did the lost symbol. I felt the last few chapters dragged a little bit. But not overly. I enjoyed the premise of the book and the theme of overpopulation. I fpund it quite thought provoking.
Not sure what to read next!

The Horse and His Boy
The Girl with All the Gifts
Clariel
With the horse and his boy i enjoyed the seeing other parts of the world other than narnia. I also like that its a kida book and i can read it quickly. Im terribly impatient and im always desperate to know whats going to happen next. This was ver much the case with the girl with all the gifts. I thought this was an amazing book. I picked it up randomly in waterstones and to be honest i decided to read it based on joss whedon recommending it on the back cover. As much as joss hurts us he knows good writing. So yeah give it a try. Clariel was next, its a YA book and the sequel to a trilogy ive already read, its incredibly well written. Its better than most YA fantasy books (coughwiccaseriescough) i live the magic system and the deep history garth nix creates. From what i read in the authors notes at the end, there will be more.
Next a VM book. Such a cracking tv show, and the film filled a void. But i can always want for more from these characters.

The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line
Not a huge book granted. And its a very easy read. However i was engrossed as i love the VM Universe so much. I was gutted when they cancelled it. Grateful for the movie , but that only made me crave more.
Started book 12 now, going good so far.

A Darker Shade of Magic
I got into this vook via twitter actually. Titan books were tweeting abput spotting the books and posters. I liked the title, so i thought eh lets check out the blurb. It has an intruiging concept, and i found it on a buy one get one half price on waterstones alongbwith another book on my list. I really enjoyed the worlds created in this book and i was hooked, the characters.are brilliant and i love the dynqmic between kell and lila. I cannot wait for the next book to see how lila discovers herself. The worlds and the magic system is not overly conplex like some fantasy authors do, its just complex enough and well explained.
Roll on book number 13.

Found this hard to get into at first. I felt i could have used more backstory at the start of the book. But after a while you do get to see and understand a lot more. I think the vook could have been bigger, but it was very enjoyable and the characters were great.

Wanted to read a nice short book to bank another book in my total. But work was super hectic i barely had time.

So glad to get back to magieres adventures. This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for about eight years. I really enjoy this series and cant wait to read the rest of the series and see if she bumps into westiel soon. That will be fun.
If havent read them, the series begins with the book dhampir. And follows magiere and leesil and their dog chap. Firstly conning villagers and then they stumble across something darker and more dangerous.

Book 17 Traitor to the Blood
Book 18 Dark Places
Book 19 The Thief
Book 20 A Discovery of Witches
I
Book 21 The Circle
Book 22 Red-Headed Stepchild
Book 23 Your Writing Coach 2nd ed
Book 24 The Girl on the Train
Got a bit behind on my challenge. Ended up four books behind, far too tired from the way my shifts at work were working. Was very annoying. Then decided to read a discovery of witches, which was silly, though i enjoyed it it is big with lots of drawn out scenes and exposition.
Im now just one book behind, but im going down to blackpool for the weekend so i cave plenty of time to read on the bus journey.
Will post thoughts on the books once i get to a computer/organise my thoughts on them.
