Alyssa (elfthryth_) Looking for some CLEAN Mainstream YA books. No language, no sex. Fantasy, Historical, Contemporary, Dystopian.

Marlo | 19 comments My Family for the War, Code Name Verity -- it's been awhile since I've read these, but I don't remember anything really objectionable.

E. Writes (elizabethkaiser) | 2 comments Maybe I'm behind the times, but I'm not sure what you mean by Mainstream books... I have just recently released a clean fairytale retelling for youth & adults alike. Might check it out!
Also there's a Space Kitties anthology we've recently brought out with 10 other authors.

MomToKippy | 20 comments I thought that YA should inherently be clean but I am sad to hear it is not?

Queen of Someday (Stolen Empire, #1) by Sherry D. Ficklin

Despite The Scandalous Cover,There is NO Smut/Nudity
and NO Swearing at All. The Author is Lds/Mormon Like Me

Yes, unfortunately YA is not always clean. In fact, more and more YA contains foul language and inappropriate intimate scenes.

Awesome!

Shirley Bouwhuis | 9 comments I love clean YA novels too and I am far from a young adult. Sad to say many many are filled with language and sex. One author I adore is Jenni James. She has a whole series of modern take-offs on Jane Austen books. They are YA and romantic, darling, clean and with great messages too. She also has a series of her take on fairy tales. If I see Jenni's name next to a book you can count on me to download it. The first in her Austen series is Pride and Popularity. I am sure you will love them like I do.

Megan | 2 comments One resource I've recently stumbled across is the website "The Literate Mother". She reviews several YA books and has her own rating system and tells exactly what is objectionable in each book to give it her rating.
