A couple of things to keep in mind:
Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.

I'm in the Pacific Timezone, in the smoke filled region due to numerous forest fires right now.
Hi everyone! I’m looking forward to making progress in several of my series with this challenge. I’m in Michigan, so Eastern Time Zone. Plethora, the photos I’ve seen of red skies out there look unbelievable. I hope your home stays safe!
Team name ideas:
The 1 Team to Rule Them All
We’re Number 1
Alices in 1derland

Alices in 1derland

I do work ten hour days the back half of the week (Wednesday through Saturday) so I'm not sure that I'd be able to be captain since I get home pretty late.
As for a team names I like The 1 To Rule Them All as well as Alice's in 1derland!

For team name I like Alice's in 1derland!

I like The 1 team to rule them all

This really does seem like a fun way to tackle my series books!
Looks like everyone has checked in, and we have everyone's vote for team name:
4 votes for Alices in 1derland (I meant Alices plural since we're all women)
3 votes for The 1 Team to Rule Them All (including my vote)
So it looks like Alices in 1derland is the winner!
Geri, thanks for volunteering to be team captain! I've been a captain in the past, so I can help if you need anything since this is your first time playing. I work from home on my computer, so I can get on ŷ easily. I just don't stay up late, so I didn't think I'd be good to check us in and roll.

I’ll let Denise know our team name too. That was quick!

That will work. It’s less pressure on me. My sleep schedule isn’t predictable.

I like this idea too, just posting something after the roll so that we all know everyone is still playing. *thumbs up*

Thank you! Yes, please check to see if we need to roll on Fridays. If last night was Thursday night, I would have been able to roll after midnight. LOL

Let me know if any of you see more specific info, that was just in my quick check before work.

Week 1
Spot: 8
Book:

Qualification: (alternate option) MC, Iver, has a dog named Cal
Finished: 9/18/20
Rating: 3 ⭐️
Review:
This was a fast paced mystery thriller. With some pretty suspenseful parts. But the writing, characters and storyline felt very paint by numbers. That’s why this was only a 3 star read for me.

Week 1
Spot 8
Book:

Qualification: MC has a pet dog named Fred
Finished: 9/20/20
4 stars
Review:
Although I saw a lot of low reviews, I enjoyed this cozy mystery. There were a lot of generic parts in the book, but overall kept my interest throughout. I'll definitely continue this series for some quick reads.

Week 1: Spot 8

Book: Holiday Grind
Author: Cleo Coyle
Pages: 384
Fits: # 8 of Coffeehouse Mystery Series

Week 1 - Space 8
Book:
The Mark by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
Qualification: #8 in Left Behind series
Finished: 09/22/20
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: We are halfway through this fictionalized version of the Book of Revelation, and Nicolae Carpathia has just risen from the dead. His first act is to implement a loyalty mark that everyone has to take or be killed via guillotine. Rayford and his fellow believers know their days of blending into society are numbered and they make moves to rescue as many believers as they can and to get everyone into hiding.
This series has been so drawn out, so I’m eager just to get to the end of it. I did tear up in this one when people were being killed for standing up for what they believed. It reminded me that this is still happening now in the real world, so I am encouraged to get out and be more active in helping those who are unjustly abused, oppressed, and persecuted. Overall, this book was okay but not as good as the first two books in the series.

Firewall by Henning Mankell
Pages: 547
How It Fits: #8 Kurt Wallander
Date Read: 9/22
Rating: 4*
Review
This is the 8th book in the Kurt Wallander series and was really enjoyable. However I do think I need to go back to the beginning as there were some character backgrounds that I would have benefited from knowing the history. Saying that, this was everything I have come to expect of Scandinavian thrillers, it was dark, gritty and took you on a rollercoaster of a ride before spitting you out the other end.

Review: Never a dull moment when Clare Cosi is doing her own detective work. Wish that Madame Blanche Dreyfus Allegro Dubois played a bigger role this go around, she is always a hoot. Lots of suspects to filter through in this one.

Wolf with Benefits by Shelly Laurenston # 8 Pride series 421 pgs/GR
Finished 9/22/20 4 stars
Review: always a good time to be back in this series with the crazy shifters. These always put a smile on my face and make me laugh. Antonella Jean-Louise Parker has ten prodigies ( I mean siblings) that she oversees for her parents and it is one tough ungrateful job she has. Ricky Lee Smith has no plans of settling down but the shifter with the crazy curly hair - yeah he just wants to follow her around, lol. There is death, destruction, negotiations and true love all wrapped into a pretty package.

Geri rated it 5 stars"
That’s funny. I was just about to comment that I loved that book. Now I know why! 🙂 I think this will satisfy both series and alternate option, so bonus point.
