Clint | 341 comments This sounds an excellent collection of SS, all called out in the famous D&D Appendix N. It might be good future group read fodder. At the very least, it sounds worth the read.

Sounds terrific - tried to order it and cannot complete the transaction unfortunately. I've emailed them to find out how to get past their step 6, but until then, guess I'll mind my own business.

Clint | 341 comments @Jason M, you can pre-order on Amazon as well

Jason Waltz (worddancer) | 384 comments hmmm. thanks for pointing that out. I really wanted that limited edition hardcover though. I'll wait to see if they respond.

Brian K | 65 comments Hey Jason- I got my order to go through on that website for the hardcover by using Paypal instead. I tried first with my credit card but got the same issue as you. Called my bank and they don't know what that site is talking about either. Tried paypal and it went through okay. I immediately got a call from the fraud prevention unit to verify the charges (auto push button type call) since I used this card on my paypal and all is good now.

Clint | 341 comments I see. I didn’t read far enough to see there was a limited edition hardcover. I might want that myself.

Jason Waltz (worddancer) | 384 comments @Brian, ahh, I sort of figured that might be the case. At $50 for the book I wanted to use my rewards-garnering credit card and avoid PayPal's nefarious exchange rate, but it seems not.

Jan-Feb is our annual Anthology groupread....so this would fit. Perhaps later we can do an AppendixN inspired theme.

Brian K | 65 comments Special edition hardcover (& limited edition chapbook of People of the Pit) arrived today in Ohio from England! Sent 11/6 so it obviously is taking 30 days currently.

Looks fantastic as expected and I love Alex Crispin's dungeon map endpapers and (few) simple illustrations. I remember being home from school on snow days making new D&D adventures and mapping out a dungeon on graph paper. You know the deal; home from school with your brothers, in your jammies, 9am and full of adventuring energy.

The fact that Alex Crispin had some artistic input on this book totally sealed the deal for me personally since I really enjoy the game Escape the Dark Castle which he illustrated (and also composed dark ambient sounds cassette too see youtube if intrstd) (game link )

Thanks again, Clint for the heads up on this.

@Brian I got the whole Escape the Dark Castle line up. Great game and awesome art indeed. The TOC for DnD AppendixN has most of my favorites....plus a few I never read. Must track it down

Poop, it looks like all the special editions are out of stock

Brian K | 65 comments Geez! It would seem like this should have been called "Limited" edition instead of "Special" edition. I wonder how many were printed.. (i preordered when this post came out). Same here in regards to Escape the Dark Castle. The book that gives a little backstory on how each character ended up there is pretty great too "Tales From the Dark" by Thomas Paul Pike.

Brian K | 65 comments @Seth Well, don't pass up The Death Book too then.. Although both are out of stock at themebourne to be restocked 1/21

Mine arrived too. Yep, love those endpapers with the dungeon maps in the old "don't photocopy me" blue & white.
