As some participants have finished JRI! but still have some other PAS challenges to complete, this RaT is opened for whatever challenges you have left that you need to complete this month. Please do share your goal/s for this RaT.

My Goals:

Finish JRI
The Second Chair - Read 45 pages
Night Moves

Finish LOST
The Alienist - Finished 12/10/20 - 498 pages

Finishing JRI will also finish PnM Settings (Place) and Series 2019

If life allows, I will add these:

from PnM
Mother Earth Father Sky

from Wheel
The Confessions of Nat Turner

These two books would complete Wheel (2018) and PnM Own TBR (2019)

Realistically, I think I could knock out Prompt 1. I only need 4 books for this, 2 of which will be graphic novels, 1 will be a play and the other Leeches which is written in an alternative format.

Thereafter, Prompt 6 is next on the list.

I have three 800+ page books left for my final prompt and I've started all of them. My goal is to finish two, one a week, as well as knock down my currently reading list in general. I'm behind in my overall reading, too.

JRI:
The Priory of the Orange Tree
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
The Passage

Other currently reading:
Lucifer, Book One
Atonement Camp for Unrepentant Homophobes
Olive Kitteridge

Want to start really bad:
Surrender Your Sons

I have 2 more books to finish for LOST. I think I'll have finished one before Dec 1, so my only real goal for the Readathon is my last one, Lost Boys. It's somehow been lost at my library, and I've been waiting for it to arrive via interlibrary loan. But on Dec. 1, I'll give up and request it from another local library that has it available digitally.

If I do finish that, then I'll do more on seriously serial, which I think I'm not likely to complete this year but still haven't given up on.

Daily Totals
Dec 1 (Ts) 45 pages
Dec 2 (Wed) 101 pages
Dec 3 (Th) 207 pages
Dec 4 (F) 140 pages
Dec 5 (Sat) 165 pages
Dec 6 (Sun) 185 pages
Dec 7 (M) 100 pages
Dec 8 (Ts) 86 pages
Dec 9 (Wed) 112 pages
Dec 10 (Th) 197 pages
Dec 11 (F) 112 pages
Dec 12 (Sat) 61 pages
Dec 13 (Sun) 51 pages
Dec 14 (M) 143

Total 1803 pages

I'm not doing very well with this RAT. I started a 27hr audiobook which is going very slowly...

But then I have to read some library books which don't have anything to do with the challenges!!

How are everyone else going?

message 21: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1060 comments Going well for now, but it will slow down soon. My problem is that most of the books I need to read are on audio or ebook. I read those formats a lot more slowly.

message 22: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I finished a book on the first day, so am doing well so far too. Though now I have evening shifts so reading is likely to slow down

message 23: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i finished up 1 book which finished up one of my JRI prompts; chugging away on a 28hr audio (thankfully its good, so i'm listening to more each day than i need to - its a library audio and its due back in 21 days with a huge waitlist)

have like 4 other books in progress

Bea | 5276 comments Mod
I'm struggling. My chosen start book is going slowly. I may start one of the others and read fewer pages per day in the first book...94 pages per day is a struggle unless the book is immediately interesting.

Also, I have several library books in progress not for RAT.

message 25: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3745 comments Mod
I haven't been doing much, but at least I've remembered to keep track of what little I did do. Some RATs I forget even to do that.

message 26: by Joanna (new)

Joanna (walker) | 615 comments The books I'm reading are going slowly.

I'm reading my last 2020 Lost book - Jesus Land: A Memoir

And I'm listening to Eva Luna, which was picked in bookopoly. It's good, but kind of meandering and I have to listen closely to follow it, so not great if I'm distracted.

I'll probably finish both this weekend.

Dee, great job one of your JRI prompts

Bea, think you will hang in there for the slow book or are you thinking about not finishing it?

Joanna, good luck finishing that last lost book!

Tien, sorry to hear you are in a reading slump! Hope you get out of it quickly. Congrats on finishing your last bookopoly 2020 book! Well done you!

For me reading is going well. I've now picked up Recursion for the december shelf of the month science. I've only read a few pages and think it has got potential.

Lusie, congrats on a good RAT so far!

I will try to complete The Alienist. It is the last LOST book, so there is that motivation. But, it is also starting to get a bit more interesting.

I was pushing to do the three books consecutively, but that was 94 pages per day. I have had to revise my plan and slow up a bit. Currently I have also started the second book - The Second Chair. The two books together are over 1000 pages.

message 31: by Dee (new)

Lusie, that was one of the things that slowed my reading also this year. I have started birding, photography, obtained a trailer, and cooking. I have also continued to grow my skills in gardening. Most of those, except for the cooking, have taken a hiatus during the winter ~ at least until the first of the year.

I've just taken up knitting! well, not really as I knitted a long time ago - nothing difficult then and nothing difficult now, just straight simple sort of knitting.

This is what I've been making: (mine doesn't look that good!) but I've repurposed it to be a book cover of sort. Well, the first one was a Secret Santa gift for my IRL bookclub and I just finished a second one for my son's kindergarten's teacher's Christmas gift.

I will make myself one... some time lol

ETA: I finished 1 Lost book for Lost & Found which leaves 1.5 books to go. Started a MM20 book on audio. I've had to finish a review book last night and a library book today so I'm probably not doing that great with my goal even if I'm reading!

What's diamond painting?

message 42: by Lisette (last edited Dec 08, 2020 09:15PM) (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments It's like paiting by number but then using stones instead. You place tiny sparkling stones on a sticky canvas to form a picture. You just follow the pattern.

This is what I am working on

Here is a wip picture, but I am much further with it now but on this picture you can see I've done the left side and yet have to work on he right side

message 43: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i like diamond painting too lusie - i have a couple on the ship - but we rock too much - so i've defaulted to either cross-stitch or hand quilting as my relaxing activity.
