(Books were chosen from my list of books-i-own and books-at-my-library, I have some older ones on the list that I haven't been able to buy or borrow, some out of print. I need to edit my want-to-read list and remove some of those.)

Do they have to be on our GR want to read shelf the longest, or can they just be books we have wanted to read for a really long time that we haven't necessarily added here? I am not sure how old some of them are because they migrated here from Shelfari, plus some might be hard to find books, etc. Also, I have some on my shelves here that I might not have added that I ought to finally read.

1. All Souls' Rising
2. Olive Kitteridge
3. The Crystal Cave
4. The March
5. The Poisonwood Bible

all books are coming from my 2008-09 amazon purchases shelf - because why not...lol!
1. Caught Stealing (purchased Dec 22, 2008) - Finished - 2/1/21 - ehh, WTF did I just read...
2. The Touch (purchased Sep 3, 2009) - Finished - 3/3/21 - McCollugh never disappoints with her historical fiction/the depth and development
3. Boneman's Daughters (purchased May 9, 2009) - Finished - 12/29/21 - not horrible but i felt like there was backstory to the Boneman Case that wasn't included in the book - like there should have been a prior book...didn't mind writing style although the random biblical stuff was just weird and felt out of place
4. The Magic Knot (purchased May 18, 2009) - Finished - 7/30/21 - another epic WTF did I just read...horrible chunky writing, plot was mediocre...probably a reason why i never read it...
5. The Cross-Country Quilters (purchased May 7, 2009) - Finished - 9/4/21 - this is a series that i go back to periodically and they always make me happy - not sure why this one was on my TBR for as long as it was....
6. Bound by Your Touch (purchased Oct 29, 2009) - Finished - 12/25/21 - not horrible, but not great - the story was a bit convuluted then wrapped up entirely too quickly
7. The Echelon Vendetta (purchased May 30, 2009) - Finished - 10/7/21 - i think this is the 4thWTF for this year's LOST...I think the story had potential but the writing was silted and not good
8. Running Hot (purchased May 18, 2009) - Finished - 2/8/21 - solid entry in series, will be continuing
9. Unbreakable (purchased Oct 28, 2009) - Finished - 8/7/21 - ehhh, not horrible, but underwhelmed- won't be continuing the series
10. Freefall (purchased Dec 11, 2009) - finished - 3/3/21 - not bad but not sure i'll continue with series

 1. I ferri dell'editore - read 06/07/2021

Notes: I haven't finished LOST 2020 yet, but I'm planning to catch up in 2021, so I have left those remaining books out of this list. As usual, I'm using my owned TBR, as I really need to get those books read sooner rather than later - some of these have been waiting for me to pick them up since 2012!

Another genre that I enjoy is Historical Fiction. And, LynnB, your NF is certainly varied. A couple are interesting to me...and I am not a big NF reader.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your books.
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your books.

Progress: 23/25 (92%)
I'm going to create some of my own rules here, due to the books that are in these slots on my list. I'm going to bypass anything that is part of a series in which I have not read (or in one case, want to reread) the previous books. I will replace a book in the series with the initial or earlier book in that series that I have yet to read. In addition, I will only place one book in a series on this list. Any books that I am unable to locate will be removed and replaced with the next book on the list. Finally, I would like to challenge myself to a "bonus round" by selecting the first 3 audiobooks from each year on my TBR.
1. Memory and Dream - Charles de Lint (replaces The Onion Girl)
2. Little Women - Louisa May Alcott (replaces Little Men)
3. Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom - Christine Northrup
4. Reclaiming the Sand - Meredith A. Walters (unavailable)
5. There is No Light in Darkness - Claire Contreras (unavailable)
6. Ghettoside - Jill Leovy
7. The Same Sky - Amanda Eyre Ward
8. Calling in "The One" - Katherine Woodward Thomas
9. The Unsayable - Annie G. Rogers
10. The Weight of Silence - Heather Gudenkauf

Karin, this isn't really answering your question - I'll leave that for Bea to do. But what I do when I create my list is to list another 10 or so books to replace ones I discover I can't find, really didn't want to read, etc. I know you're allowed to count DNF's, but it's more fun for me to replace them, so by the end of the year I've cleared off 10 books I really did read. Not something you have to do, but just how I like to play it. That said, I never get to the follow-up parts this way. But that's ok with me.

Karin, as long as they are "old, lost books", they can come from anywhere. This game is meant to help each of us move past those books we have around or on a list that have been there for years.
As to whether or not they can be found, I would suggest that, if a book is not available to read (for me that means I don't own it and it cannot be found in my library systems), that it be left off the list. If you start it, and you just cannot tolerate it (for whatever reason), then DNF it.
At that point, you can replace it as Susan suggests or count it. The important part is that you find 10 books that haven't gotten the attention they might deserve and try them out. Have fun!

Great! I will scour my want to read list here and my shelves and come up with 10 that have been on there a long time that I have or can get from my library.

I finally updated my original post (#20) and added my list so you can add me to the group now. Thanks! =)
I know I've just posted my list (#29) a few days ago but I've been thinking that I really don't feel like them... I feel like shunting them all to a different shelf and just redo my list. I was planning to restrict my library loans this year and that LOST books were on the exception list but I just don't like my current list (except for that 1 fantasy book on there) lol
I haven't made up my mind yet... Execute? Y / N?

Well Tangara is a quick light read. I haven't read The Little Company but I usually enjoy Eleanor Dark. I have Dancing On Coral and Things We Didn't See Coming on my TBR if you want to do a buddy read at some stage.

I was kind of thinking about redoing my list as well! Ha!

Oh yes please! I'm always up for a buddy read :D
Plus if I remember correctly, this will work well for our new challenge in January ;) for both of us.
Do you want to see which book you could source?

Go for it! It's just time lost to try to read things you're just not interested in anymore .... especially as you added these just because they were authors you hadn't heard of before. I always use December to thin and update my list, as long as I have a list posted by January 1.

Sounds like a solution. The important thing is that this list is made up of books that have been on the shelf or TBR for a long while. Nothing says you have to stick with the 10 oldest.

Becky, I just started a Cadfael series on Britbox TV. I loved the books and am enjoying even the episodes for books I have recently revisited.

The object is to make a list of 10 books that have been on your TBR list the longest and get them finally read.
You are allowed to DNF any book that you list after giving it a try.
This game is part 1 of 3. The other parts will be announced when people start finishing their LOST list as they are based on the date LOST was finished. However, you are not required to participate in parts 2&3, which are just incentives for not letting the LOST books linger.
Good reading, everyone.
