The Princess Bride I love this book, it's a 5-star for me!
The Great Gatsby First read this one in high school, have since re-read it several times, I find I get more out of it each time I read it.

Ok, for this session I will be reading Never Let Me Go, and Eat, Pray, Love :) Thanks for the picks, I will let you know what I think of them.

I finished reading Eat, Pray, Love today, and I didn't love it. I was constantly checking how many pages until the end, and I skimmed a fair bit of it. Liz just came across as so completely self-absorbed, arrogant, vain, and a whole bunch of other nasty words that went through my head as I read her story. I found myself more interested in the stories of the people she met, than I was in hers. I gave it one star, but I am glad I read it because now when some-one asks if I have read it and is it any good, I can say "Yes I have, and no it's not."

That's what I thought about the book too! I really don't know how it got so popular!

I'm still deciding which book to read for my choice. The Great Gatsby and The Princess Bride are both on my LOST list so I may go with one of those. But I'm hoping one will fit into the Reader's Pursuit challenge then I'll choose that one! Gotta multi-task if possible! Haha!

I just listened to the audio of The Princess Bride. I wonder if I would have liked it better if i would have read it. A single narrator just can't compete with all the wonderful voices and personalities of the brilliant cast of the movie. And what was up with the ending? That was sudden and a disappointment! Overall I liked it (except the ending), but the movie is much better. 3 stars.

The Great Gatsby is ready for me to pick up from the library so I'll be reading that one as well.

I finished reading Never Let Me Go, I think last week. Loved it. Really interesting, raises some really important questions we may need to answer in the future in terms of morals and ethics in scientific advances. Just wish it had a slightly stronger ending.

And with that, I have finished my two reads for this session :)

I finished listening to The Great Gatsby. I thought the first half of the book was slow. The story itself was good but the tangents bogged it down. I can see why some of the tangents were necessary and they did add meaning to the later part of the story but they were still hard to get through. I really began to like the book around chapter 6 but since there are only 8 chapters, it was a bit late in the game. I know I read this in school forever ago but I didn't remember much and honestly, it was a bit over my head at the time. I'm glad I re-read it. I can see why it's a classic.

Well I committed to reading 1 book and ended up reading 2!

I felt the same way, I read Gatsby in high school and felt it was rubbish, then re-read it later in university and I was able to see the value in it much more. It's one of those books where you need the maturity and life experience to really appreciate it.

The film version with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire is also quite good.

I do want to see the movie now!
