Alice Yoder | 465 comments Thank you for these lists, especially the Project Gutenberg. There are just some books I can't find in our public library (smaller city) and due to the pandemic, Dallas libraries are drive-up only, and only for residents. Since I had a non-resident card, I can't use it. Bah humbug.

You are very welcome. I love all the lists in Listopia, especially since it automatically updates with books you have read. I'm in San Antonio and, luckily, we have separate governments for city and county (Bexar). The San Antonio Public Library is over 100 years old and fairly well stocked with access to both Libby and Overdrive. Our county decided a few years to establish a digital only library so that gives me access to cloudLibrary and Hoopla.

Here is a Listopia I personally made several years ago. Not sure why it didn't show up or make the cut :(

1001 Books I Have Already Read: /list/show/8... (526 books)

I find it frustrating that you can only add 100 books to a given 1001 list. I need to make 12 of these to cover all the books I have currently read.

Both the listopia list with all 1318 books and also the children's books list are currently being seriously spammed by one author and her friends. I've reported the account but I'm quite sure nothing will come of it (as always).
I've removed the author's work plus the spam a couple of times but the keep adding them. Currently there are almost 200 additional books on the list (100+ on the children's books list).

How can we remove them?

Librarians can remove them by editing the list and clicking on „remove books (you should first check for duplicates though, saves you some work). I check the lists every few days and remove all the non-list books. The problem is that this particular author and her friends keep adding them. I‘m pretty sure support won‘t do anything about it. So my strategy is to leave everything for a few weeks and make them feel „save and forget the list until I remove everything again. It completely annoys me but it‘s probably the best way.

I removed all the spam last week and the lists are as they should be again. I also added a few more to the children's list and realized that there are at least two books which don't seem to be on the English version but are on the German and Spanish versions of the list (I left a comment in the group), which might be interesting for you, Karen.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 104 comments I've been helping to maintain the main Listopia list in recent months, which involves removing non-stop spam from accounts that I'm pretty sure are bots with no apparent purpose besides being annoying.

One thing that would REALLY help make that easier is if more people would vote on the list, especially for books further down the list. This would make it harder for the spam books to move up the list. Sometimes 10 votes on a book gets it all the way up to page 3! So if you could vote on the list, whether for your 100 favourites or for the bottom 100 or whatever (just make sure the total is 1318 when you do it so you don't accidentally vote for spam), I would really appreciate it!

OK, I'm off to remove the 40 books that have been added since I cleared it this morning...

I've mentioned this in the newsletter before and will bring it up again! Thanks for your help.
