The books are really GREAT! I suggest them to everyone with no second doubts.. but seriously, the tv show sucks! I thought of watching it, cause, why not? I loved the books. But even from the first 5 minutes I was soooo disapointed :( I don't know, probably it's because I have already read the books and books are ALWAYS better than their tv adaption. But I suggest you to start reading it insted of watching it.

I want to read this series but since it's such a big one, I am lacking motivation...

I've only seen the first episode or two of the tv show. Are the books as graphic as the show (both in terms of violence and sexual stuff)?

I'm waiting for that fatty GRRM to finish the series so that I can read the books at a go!
Funnily, even 25+ years is not enough for him..

I prefer reading completed sets/series.

The TV show was an absolute disgrace. So much build up, ante and only for the Night King to be brought down by a simple knife maneuvering... -_-

There are some violent scenes. Yes.

So I've watched all the HBO series and loved it. I got stalled reading the first book mostly because the first season follows the first book pretty closely so I knew what was going to happen. I'm aware that the book series and tv show are quite different, especially when it comes to female characters. I do intend to actually read this series but I need to be able to separate it from the tv show first.
