Dan | 255 comments What wonderful werewolf book should we read for the summer of 2021? Considering that many people have more time for leisure activities during the summer, should we consider going big? I won't place any restrictions on the book nominated, only that it should feature werewolves behaving badly.

Please nominate up to two works by the end of May. You are not locked in to your nominees and can always change your mind (and nominee) until the end of May 31.

Zain But Dan! Wait a minute, what about our spring reading? I don’t remember voting on that, yet. I mean did we? I just don’t remember.

Zain

Zain Oh, Dan... I forgot to mention that I have a brain disorder and that it interferes with my short term memory. There really isn’t anything that can be done for it.

So if you notice me forgetting something, please be patient with me.

Dan | 255 comments The poll for the Spring group read is going on now and will end Sunday night. You can get to it via the polls link from the group homepage, or check the last message sent you from this group. Either gets you to the same place, the poll. You are one of four voters who have already voted.

message 5: by Zain (new)

Zain Oh, thanks Dan, for telling me this. I have forgotten that I already voted. I’ll take a look at the page to see what my book l voted for.

Iain McLachlan | 17 comments May I nominate my book,

Moon Dancing Volume One

Published by silver bow publishing in Vancouver.

:-)

message 7: by Scott (new)

Scott I would like to suggest The Curse of the Wolf Girl, the follow-up to a book we read a couple years ago.

message 8: by Dan (new)

Dan | 255 comments One nominee (for Summer read starting in June) each from Iain and Scott so far noted. Both, excellent choices. It's going to be hard for me to think of another I'd nominate before choosing either of these. So maybe I won't.

message 9: by Dan (new)

Dan | 255 comments Others should still feel free to though.

Congratulations! That's wonderful news. I was just checking out Volume 1 again on Amazon.com. I have not heard of Silverbow Publishing previously, but they appear to put out good products. Surprised you had to go to Canada to find a publisher though.

message 13: by Zain (new)

Zain So, have we decided what book we will be reading for the spring?

Dan | 255 comments Yes. One can go to the group home page to see the current (Spring) group read.

Volume one is my first published work as a stand alone author, I have previously published as part of a collection. I researched and approached different publishers and Silverbow were the first ones to say 'yes' :-) I got to fly to Vancouver for the launch of volume one, which was great

Dan | 255 comments I just wanted to remind everyone there are a few more days before I close out the nominations and start the poll for what werewolf book we will be reading this summer. You have until the end of May.

Nominations so far:
Moon Dancing
The Curse of the Wolf Girl
Those Across the River

Wow! Do we have some great candidates?! Add more if you dare, I mean want to.

In the meantime, I am so embarrassed. I have yet to begin our Spring group book, and I nominated it! I correct that oversight starting this very morning. Who hasn't read it and cares to join me? Put down that boring book you've been struggling to get through for a while and read about a beleaguered werewolf with me instead.

message 17: by Iain (new)

Iain McLachlan | 17 comments Moon Dancing :-) :-) :-)

message 18: by Zain (new)

Zain I would like to vote on Moon Dancing by Iain Maclachlan. After all, I own this book.

Zain 😎

message 19: by Dan (last edited May 31, 2021 01:39AM) (new)

Dan | 255 comments I used to vote all the time in my own polls, Zain, but lately I have been abstaining. I like the fact we have the author of Moon Dancing present in our group. I've had that happen before recently in another of my groups and it really adds a lot to be able to talk directly to an author about his book. On the other hand, I've read the first in the series which The Curse of the Wolf Girl is a sequel to and loved it. So I wouldn't mind finding out how old Kalix is doing in her next book. She really hit bottom in the series opener. Finally, I don't know anything about the last book or its author, but it takes place locally to me in Georgia, which for me is just 44 miles to the west "across the river." I like reading novels with local color. So I count it a win whichever book gets the most votes.

message 20: by Zain (new)

Zain Yes. That’s right. The author is in the group. Sure would be great to talk to him about this book. 😎

Hi Zain,

I am more than happy to, I am in Northern Ireland so there is a time difference, but very happy to do a Q&A session and a zoom if you guys want. Really excited to hear what you think of my work.

message 22: by Zain (new)

Zain I sure hope that this book is our summer selection. 😎👍🏽
