P.S.
While I enjoy the Shadowhunters series...your review was hella entertaining Ayla!

Hope you will follow me! I read eclectically—popular fiction, fantasy, science fiction, an occasional horror or suspense novel, young adult fare...
I recently reviewed Crosstalk, by Connie Willis; Writers & Lovers, by Lily King; The Rule of Three, by Eric Walters; We Never Asked for Wings, by Vanessa Diffenbaugh; The Searcher, by Tana French; The Bird Box, by Josh Malerman...and there are a couple of years of reviews before these.

The Selection - 3 stars

The One - 3 stars
The Heir - 2.75 stars
The Crown - 2.5 stars
Happily Ever After (all the novellas) -3 stars

What I don't like:
1. When the reviewer takes the first paragraph, give or take, to tell us of why he/she is rating the book in question how he/she is rating it--all the ambivalent feelings towards the book. It was 5 stars for this but only 1 star for that, yada yada. We want a review of the book not a tutorial on how you rate books.
2. When the review is too slick with pictures every few paragraphs, as if we need illustrations for your review. I know, you just learned the formatting rules on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, or you finally have them down pat. As soon as I see a picture-strewn review I move on.
3. When the reviewer seems to equate the narrator of the novel, or even worse a character in the novel, with how the author feels about a given topic. Do I really need to go into this? Have you ever read a book before?
4. When it is obvious the reviewer has read one too many "real" book reviews of the book. No, we don't believe that you happen to feel the same way as all the paid critics. Thanks for providing no unique insight whatever.
Ok. Maybe we can make this a poll somehow. I don't really know how groups work.

I agree with most of your points, except the gif one.
Personally, I love reviews with gifs as it’s more spaced out and easier to read.
I add gifs in my review as it helps me be more expensive regarding my feelings, and it makes it more convenient for a person to scroll through and read it. Most people also prefer it when I put gifs in my reviews (at least from the feedback I got)
But this is just my opinion. Totally respect yours! :)

totally agree!

I wrote a summary of it at the top.

This is where I don’t like the book as much in my reread, and also where I’ve drawn fanart 😳
