Brian Murphy’s Silver Key blog is one I frequent from time to time. The post I read today is a subject heavy on my mind. Mr Murphy tackled it intelligently without anger.

Labels and disclaimers are fine but who sets the standard?

I’m fearful of censorship. Too many ways it can go awry. If a label or disclaimer keeps items from being censored then I can abide by it.

Although in this decisive time we live in will this placate those who are offended?

A month ago I was casually ranting with a friend "What am I gonna have to do? Dig a depository vault under my back yard to house my possibly offensive fantasy collection?? They gonna burn my Conan books??"

And I admit I could have been called "alarmist" 30 days ago.

Never would I have instead said something like "Better hold on to your Dr Suess books!" because that would have been straight out crazy. My friend would have laughed. As would I.

Think of the piles of Mayan books destroyed because the artwork looked fiendish.
