Rules for May Museum Challenge

Hello everyone, as International Museum Day is on 18th May , we planed on doing a challenge based on that.


This will be a team challenge , where we will sort you into teams based on sign ups. It will start on May 1st 2021 and end on May 31st 2021 . Books must be logged before the end date.


Here are the rules-


Those who wish to sign up, do so in the following way. Only sign ups done this way will be considered-

If you change your goodreads user id anytime after sign ups, then please let us know your former goodreads id and your new one. Your name will be entered in the list according to the sign up name(s).


There will be ten teams for the challenge.

3. Team ‘The British Museum��
4. Team ‘The Uffizi Galleries��
5. Team ‘The State Hermitage Museum��
6. Team ‘The Prado��
7. Team ‘The Rijksmuseum��
8. Team ‘Museo Larco��
9. Team ‘Acropolis Museum��
10. Team ‘National Palace Museum��


Each team will have a minimum of 5 members, and we will decide the maximum soon based on how many are interested.


As a team, you will need to read books together of the group prompts. It will be like a buddy read, but books can be logged only after each and every team member has read the book. (We will be checking to ensure this)

You can discuss the book in the thread that your team will be provided, (preferably in spoiler tags) and you can have other general conversations to get to know each other better, as you wish in your thread. :)

The process of logging books is mentioned below.

Now, apart from this there are also 5 individual prompts that each participant can complete. If you complete one of these, your team gets a bonus of +5 points.

12. Ancient Attachments
Read a historical romance (must be appropriate for all ages)

13. Aspiring Artist
Read a book with a character who is an artist

14. New Exhibit
Read a book that was published after 2018

15. International Tour
Read a book set in the country where one of the other team's museum is

16. Lost to Time
Read a lesser-known classic

17. Prehistoric
Read a book published before 1800

18. Gallery Walk
Read a book with a cover that has more than 6 colours on it.


(18, as International Museum Day is on the 18th of May)


For completing each prompt from this as a team , your team will get +15 points .


Prompts can be reused more than once , BUT the same book CANNOT be read twice. If you are reusing the same prompt again, then you will HAVE to read a different book each time.

If a particular book is a reread for a particular participant, it is alright, but they will HAVE to read the book again along with their respective team. (we will ensure this)

If a team completes all 18 prompts together, then it will get bonus +20 points.

The team that completes the most prompts wins.

7. Hard as a stone
Read a hardback

8. E-lover
Read an e-book

9. Deckled Edges
Read a book with Deckled Edges

10. Make it colourful
Read a book with a painted spine/ painted pages

11. Black and White
Read a book with a black and white cover

12. Let’s do some research
Read a book on a subject you’re passionate about (can be fiction/non-fiction)

13. Let’s be artistic
Read a book by an author who designed their own book cover

14. Put on your headphones
Read a audiobook narrated by the author

15. Love for books
Read a book about books (can be fiction/non-fiction)

Each individual participant can read a book from the individual prompts, and by doing so you will get +5 for your team.

The individual prompts can be reused more than once , and you will get +5 each time it is completed, BUT you CANNOT read the same book twice for these prompts. You can reread books that you have read prior to the start of this challenge. (May 1st, 2021)

Once sign ups have closed, the results of which team you are in will be announced soon.


HOW TO LOG BOOKS?


There will be a universal log created for participants to log books.

Since books can be logged only after each and every member has read it, it MUST to be done in the way mentioned here, or it WILL NOT be counted. Please follow this, otherwise it will become difficult for us to manage.

Only ONE member from the ENTIRE team will log the book. A book logged more than once will not be considered.

We will be appointing a team leader , who will be responsible for the coordination of everything in their own team. Members who are mostly active in the group will be taken into consideration, but we may also choose at random.


The team leader will be expected to coordinate their team, as in: help in deciding which books to read, keep the conversations going, log the books and make this challenge as enjoyable as possible for their team etc. We mods will also be helping in this.


If a team leader fails to do the job, the group will get a -3 points.

In case you are chosen for team leader, and want to opt out of it, let us know. You can still take part in the challenge and not lead the team. A new team leader will be chosen in that case.

The purpose of this is to encourage member conversations, so we hope you take part in this. :)

For a series, you will log all the books in the series in the same way, IN THE SAME COMMENT. Do not use two different comments for a series.


Now here is the point system, just to clear things up.


Point system


For each prompt completed as a team , you will get +15 points.

For each prompt completed individually , you will get +5 bonus points for your team.

If you complete all 18 prompts as a team , you will get +20 points.


The points for the page numbers are-

100- 200 pages or lower: +1
200-300 pages: +2
300-400 pages: +3
400-500 pages: +4
500-600 pages: +5
600-700 pages: +6

It will go on like this.

Only one book can be read at once by a team. You cannot read 2 books together at the same time.

There are no points for reviews or buddy reads this time, as it is a group activity.


In case you are in the app and cannot put the hyperlink through it, do the following:


1. Go to google chrome and search ‘ŷ��������.
2. Sign in through your account.
3. Scroll at the bottom, and you will find something called ��2021 inc��.
4. Under that, there will be something called ‘desktop version��. Click on that.
5. You’ll now get all features the desktop version has.
