My pleasure. I created one for myself because I like to see the progress of each book getting marked off, and then figured I could share. :D
(Plus I'm lazy and bad-math prone, so letting the spreadsheet do all the work is a big win. :P)

The Wicked Day - Fantasy is the first MPG, however Historical Fiction is # 3-Can I use this book for the bonus?
Genre can be tricky. You have to evaluate the book yourself really since many books can have multiple genres, such as historical fantasy. For this particular book I would consider it historical fantasy and therefore you can give yourself the bonus points.

To count for the HF bonus it should meet that, but books read for the challenge don't need to be HF.

What Becky said. Also most scoring is done on the honor system so I will normally correct math issues but it is rare I will double check a reported page count or historical fiction assertion.
Also, as I just noticed with my own post (which I just corrected) sometimes books are shelved as HF even when they don't meet the definition for our group.

But if it is a non issue, I'm good with that. No more needs to be said. Lets keep reading :)

Chris if you think those two books are mine please tell me so I can make the correction if needed.

Same here - if they are mine, let me know

I understand. It just is often hard for me to check every book, as that can make scoring much more time consuming. I will try to keep an eye on it. As I said, after reading your comment I realized I did that with my most recent read because it has the genre tag of HF so I went back and corrected that.

I would say if the story's plot involves the plague than yes. For example, if during the 40 years the characters are discussing hiding indoors for fear of getting sick yes, but if it is like the plague is happening in England and they are in China and haven't even heard about it then no.
Does that make sense?

Since this is my first time participating in this challenge, I went back and rechecked my scoring as follows:
Three books did not qualify for the historical fiction bonus.
The following books did qualify as historical fiction according to my understanding of the guidelines:
Ladies of the Goldfield Stock Exchange
Painted Horses
The Grapes of Wrath
All the King's Men
The History of Love
And while checking, I found your wonderful tracking sheet, Becky. Thank you so much for that amazing tool. And Jasmine, thanks to you for setting up this challenge and keeping track of the scoring.

Yes it does. The book takes place in 16th century Istanbul, which will qualify it for HF, and the plague when there is a severe outbreak of the bubonic plague in Istanbul leaving thousands dead in the city and outlying areas.

Totally understand!! And it wasn't any of your books that I had noted.

So just for clarification, the edition that I read of All The King's Men was published in 1996 in an anniversary edition making it 50 years after the time in question in the 1920's.

And the same goes for The Grapes of Wrath originally published in 1939 but reissued in 2006.

Therefore, I will remove the 5 bonus points from each of those books. Thank you.

You're welcome! Glad you like it!

Jasmine, do the bonus mod books need to be read 1 per month, or can I hold on to them and do them when I have more time? I have 3 audiobooks that I need to squeeze in before the end of the month (and I lose Hoopla because my library is discontinuing it! *sob*) and I have a couple buddy read obligations as well.
The way it reads implies that it's 1 per month, but if I can do them later that would be awesome.
(She says like she's even going to finish her original list. LOL)

1 per month.
The reason I never do any bonuses is the fact that I can't even make it through my own list. One of these years it will happen (but not this year).

Book lists are opened for editing. Please put a # by books that you swap out and put an * by books you move around.

Yes Peggy, you're allowed 1 mod book per month, so you can do 1 in July and 1 in August, but you couldn't do 2 and 3 in August.

Thanks, Becky! Maybe this year I'll actually read 2 Bonus Moderator books :)
I feel you, Peggy! I managed one because I shifted it off my list at the last minute and replaced it. LOL (Is that cheating?)

Ashley Marie wrote: "I feel this too! I never manage to get through ten books in June, hard as I try, so I only ever get 2 of the 3 bonus books read :D"
You only have to read 5 books to be able to do a Mod bonus book.
So in June, you could read 5 list books, then your Mod book.

Oh awesome. Did that change recently? I thought it used to be 10 books to start.
Possibly? I'd have to dig through old challenges to see for sure, but the rules on this one say 5, so 5 it is! :D

So looks like it's been 5 going back to at least 2016. No idea where I got 10 from lol

Mod Bonus - JoLene - 50 points
448 pgs - 4 points
HF Y - 5 points
Bonus Category - -
Total Points = 59
Total Challenge Points 1,077

Glad you caught it. Just didn't want you to wonder why there was a gap between what you calculated your total to be and what I calculated it to be.
