Select a scene (or part of a scene) and rewrite it in contemporary English and a modern setting. Consider who your characters will be (profession, personality, speech) and place them in a setting that you think relates somehow to Macbeth’s Scotland.

My modern re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth will be based on a small part of Act IV scene III in which Lady Macduff is angered by her husband’s fleeing to England. She feels that Mcduff abandoned her to a terrible fate. The reason I enjoyed this scene so much is because we are briefly introduced to Lady Macbeth’s very precocious child that appears to be at the same intellectual level as his mother. I will attempt to recreate the dialog between them with the same spirit, but with a different setting and with a modern take. The plot will be of a ‘war wife that is sick of her husband’s military deployments and is ready to leave him once and for all. With that said…this isn’t Shakespeare, so parallels will be easy to see.
[Cast]
Lady Macduff played by Lana Del Rey
Macduff will be Leonidas
Ross played by Thom Yorke
Lady Macduff’s son played by Nives Del Rey

Act IV scene III [Dallas suburbs. Del Rey Residence]
Lana: I can’t believe Leonidas would just abandon me and Nives to go to Iraq.
Thom: He’s fighting for freedom. He’s fighting for this country.
Lana: Is that more important than fighting for his son and me? As far as I’m concerned, he is a coward and a traitor to this family. He is dead to me!
Thom: Well, I don’t understand the entire situation. But I can see you’re unhappy and I hate seeing you upset. I’m going to go pick up some barbeque. I’ll be back in a while.
[exits]
Lana: Son…Your father is dead.
Nives: (Sighs and then whispers to himself) “Here we go. (Now addressing his mother) No he isn’t. Why would you say something like that mom?
Lana: He IS dead, son.
Nives: Is he ‘dead because he is a traitor?
Lana: Yes
Nives: What is a traitor mom?
Lana: A traitor is someone that swears an oath and then lies about keeping it. They are liars, son. They should all be hanged as far as I’m concerned.
Nives: Hung by who mom?
Lana: The honest people of the world.
Nives: Then dad will be ok. There are more liars in the world than there are honest.
Lana: Oh son, what are you going to do without a father?
Nives: I still have a dad…if you were telling the truth and he was dead, you would have cried. And even if he did die, you would have another husband waiting in line. Why is Thom always hanging around here anyway?
Lana: Go to your room.

Thunder. The three WITCHES enter.

FIRST WITCH
Where have you been, sister?
SECOND WITCH
Killing pigs.
THIRD WITCH
And you, sister?
FIRST WITCH
A sailor’s wife had chestnuts in her lap and munched away at them. “Give me one, I said. “Get away from me, witch! the fat woman cried. Her husband has sailed off to Aleppo as master of a ship called the Tiger. I’ll sail there in a kitchen strainer, turn myself into a tailless rat, and do things to him.
SECOND WITCH
I’ll give you some wind to sail there.
FIRST WITCH
How nice of you!
THIRD WITCH
And I will give you some more.
FIRST WITCH
I already have control of all the other winds, along with the ports from which they blow and every direction on the sailor’s compass in which they can go. I’ll drain the life out of him. He won’t catch a wink of sleep, either at night or during the day. He will live as a cursed man. For eighty-one weeks he will waste away in agony. Although I can’t make his ship disappear, I can still make his journey miserable. Look what I have here.
SECOND WITCH
Show me, show me.
FIRST WITCH
Here I have the thumb of a pilot who was drowned while trying to return home.

A drum sounds.

THIRD WITCH
A drum, a drum! Macbeth has come.
ALL
(dancing together in a circle) We weird sisters, hand in hand, swift travelers over the sea and land, dance around and around like so. Three times to yours, and three times to mine, and three times again, to add up to nine. Enough! The charm is ready.

Jessica Perez | 72 comments The scene i have chosen is when the doctor and maid watch as Lady Macbeth sleep-walks. In this act Lady Macbeth is afraid for her husband and herself. She realizes that the consequences of their actions will now decide their future, and her future does not look good. She is also wondering if she will ever be forgiven for her and her husbands evil actions. Her conscience is killing her and truth will come-out.

Modern version- Act V

Doctor Ramos: I have been examining her for two days now, yet she still has not sleepwalked.
Maid: She has been sleepwalking since when the king left the castle. Also, when she sleepwalks she puts her gown on and grabs paper and pretends to write, then read what she has not written and fold the paper, then off to bed.
Doctor Ramos: Since, you have seen her sleepwalk, has she said anything.
Maid: I have heard her say many things but I'm not sure I should tell you.
Doctor Ramos: You can tell me anything, I am her physician.
Maid: I am not sure if you will believe me. You must see it yourself and hear for yourself.
Mrs. Olivia has started sleepwalking.
Maid: Lets walk besides her.
Doctor Ramos: Wont the light bother her.
Maid: No, she sleeps with the TV and a light on.
Doctor Ramos: I cant believe what I am seeing, she has her eyes open.
Maid: Yes, but not fully alarmed.
Doctor Ramos: Why does she have her hands together and rubs consistently.
Maid: Shes probably washing her hands, its a routine every day.
Mrs. Olivia: How can I remove this spot.
Doctor Ramos: Let me write down what Mrs. Olivia is saying to have some proof.
Mrs. Olivia: Why won't this spot remove. I have tried everything but it won't go away. No one will ever know the truth because no one has seen us. Damn, he lost a lot of blood.
Doctor Ramos: What is going on.
Mrs. Olivia: I had no idea he had a wife, what should we do now. I am afraid of our safety.
Doctor Ramos: I should not hear this.
Maid: Mrs. Olivia has said something that no one should have heard. But, God knows the truth.
Mrs. Olivia: I can still smell his blood on me and his cheap perfume. What have I done.
Doctor Ramos: She has a guilty conscience.
Maid: This is out of my value or sense of knowing.
Doctor Ramos: OK.
Maid: What should we do.
Doctor Ramos: I have never dealt with this situation before; but they saying dying in your sleep is peaceful.
Mrs. Olivia: Just come to bed, Tim is dead, stop worrying he cannot return from the dead.
Doctor Ramos: Wow!!!
Mrs. Olivia: I hear someone coming. Hurry close your eyes its over. We did it already.
Doctor Ramos: Shes going to bed.
Maid: Yes
Doctor Ramos: I am not sure what to do, but I hope God can help her from her sin and keep her from harming herself. My mind is going crazy and I'm not sure if I should tell the police what I have just seen and heard.
Maid: Goodnight.

Arlette.Cortez | 72 comments A modern re-image of the play Macbeth for me it will be in act four scene one where Macbeth is talking to the witches and he is asking them to show him his future. I imagine that setting in a modern time like when you go talk to a lady who reads cards and tells you what the future holds for you. And instead of seeing it like Macbeth did the only persons who can see it is the lady reading the cards so she is the one telling you what she sees.
Cast
Witches: switch to only one witch played by the wicked witch of the west from the wizard of oz.
Macbeth: played by a soldier who had murder two other soldiers who were in command so that he can take those soldiers position.
Modern Act 4 Scene 1
Macbeth enters
Witch: Come in! Come in! I have the answers to anything you need to know about your future.
Macbeth: Tell me who can take my power now?
Witch set up the cards on the table
Witch: I see an armed man dress in a soldier uniform
Macbeth: Tell me, if he is my new threat?
Witch: He will not be commanded by you but you do have to keep an eye on him. He might ruin your plans.
Macbeth: Alright thanks for your advice I will keep that in mind.
Witch: There is another thing I see. It is a new born child.
Macbeth: is that child going to be my future threat?
Witch: Don’t worry, no one will ever take your position away until you retired.
Macbeth: Good so I wouldn’t have to kill our own soldiers.
Witch: Hold up! I see one more thing.
Macbeth: What is it? What is it?
Witch: I see a young boy who is natural ambitions, and has a lot of courage. He will be the one that takes your position when you retired.
Macbeth: I have another question. Will anyone ever find out I was the one who murder those soldiers?
Witch: I will tell you no more! Everything you need to know has been told to you already.

Jesus M Manzanares | 64 comments I chose Act 3 scene 1, in this scene Banquo is talking to himself and mentions that he should not keep the secret about the murder of king Duncan, then that is when Macbeth, lady Macbeth and Lennox Ross enters the palace and Macbeth starts talking to Banquo and asks him, Is your trip going to be far? After the conversation Macbeth tells Banquo I wish you a good trip then Banquo exits the palace. After Banquo leave, Macbeth starts talking to himself about how much he fears and distrusts Banquo because he thinks that Banquo is going to kill him just as he did with Duncan. The attendant enters with two murderers and Macbeth tells the attendant to wait outside while he talks with the murderers. He tells the murderers that he wants Banquo dead and that they should do it by tonight.
[Cast]
Banquo- Tom
Lady Macbeth- Jenny
Two murderers- the two hit mens
Macbeth- Tim
Attendant- waiter
Tom: The fortune teller was correct when she said that if we murdered our boss our conscious was not going to rest, I cannot take it anymore!!! I need to tell someone what Tim and I did.
Tim and Jenny walked into the restaurant and sat with Tom
Tim: hello Tom
Jenny: hi Tom
Tom: Hello Tim, Jenny
Tim: Tom, I need you to do me a favor, Can you deliver this letter to the post office but it has to be done before sunrise.
Tom: of course
Tom left the restaurant; the waiter approached Tim with the two hit men
The waiter: hello sir these two men were asking for you
Tim: thanks waiter for bringing these two men here, I will call you when I’m ready to order.
Hit man 1: what do you want us to do for you sir? And how much are you going to pay us?
Tim: well, I want you to murder Tom because he knows too much and I’m afraid he is going to expose the secret to everyone but it has to be done by tonight. If you kill him before sunrise I will pay you $20,000 in cash.
Hit man 2: okay, we will kill him and I assure you that this is going to be the last day of his life.

On act I Scene V, Lady Macbeth receives s a letter form Macbeth. Macbeth, being a soldier sends a letter to his wife, informing her about his experiences thought war. This scene could be easily represented in modern times. Even do today wireless communication has become one of the main tools for communications, soldiers still chose to send letter to their love ones as a form of communication.

Macbeth as Alberto
Lady Macbeth as Beatriz

Act I scene V (Beatriz enter his house with a letter from his husband Alberto, who has been deployed into a war overseas)

Hello dear, how have you been? Hope everything goes fine over there. I am fine over here, nothing to worry about. Yesterday, we just took some enemy bases, as they tried to invade our positions. I had to rush in to enemy terrain in order to advantage over the enemy army. It was a suicide, most of my teammates died on the act. But I made it thought. After the battle ended, I was promoted as the leader of my squad, as the old squad leader died in battle. It seems that when there is an open spot for a higher rank, they always chose the one with the guts to survive. Later that day, on my way to my new assigned base, I had a vision of my future. I saw myself being promoted as the general of an entire army, how can that be possible? It felt so real to me, that I almost guarantee that it is going to happen. But how? will it happen just by coincidence? Regardless how is it going to happen, I am going to be honored, respected and powerful.

From my prospective, the story of Macbeth already has a modern touch. Just take a look at Macbeth and Lady Macbeth relationship. Lady Macbeth is the one that actually has the balls in the relationship. how can that be possible? this story was wrote back in the 1600s, back then women where not known for being dominant in a relationship, they had no power at all. in fact, men were the ones that made the decisions. I don't think that back then the world "mandilon" existed or does it?

Risa.Garcia | 33 comments I chose to revise and rewrite Act 1 Scene 1 in contemporary English and in a modern setting. Throughout this component of “Macbeth, three witches partake in a conversation to strategize their plan for Macbeth. They speak about the battle they have already had effects on; this is the beginning to their other doings throughout the play.

Act 1 Scene 1
[In thunder and lightning, enter three Witches.]
First Witch: When should we meet again, in thunder, lightning, or in rain?
Second Witch: We will meet when the battle is over; when there is finally a winner and a loser.
Third Witch: That will be before the sun sets.
First Witch: Where should we meet?
Second Witch: We will meet at the battlefield. It will be cleared.
Third Witch: We will meet Macbeth there also.
First Witch: I must leave to be with my spiritual friend, Grimalkin, the cat.
Second Witch: I am leaving too because Paddock, my toad, is calling my name.
Third Witch: I will be right there, as well.
All: Good may be bad for some, just as bad may good for others depending on their situation. Just continue floating through the fog and the dirty air.
[The three witches exit the stage]

ChristinaMarie Kiesert | 59 comments At night, in the king’s palace at dunsinane, a doctor and a gentlewoman discuss Lady Macbeth’s strange habit of sleepwalking. Suddenly, Lady Macbeth enters in a trance with a candle in her hand. Bemoaning the murders of Lady Macduff and Banquo, she seems to see blood on her hands and claims that nothing will ever wash it off. She leaves, and the doctor and gentlewoman marvel at her descent into madness.

Here I am translating this scene of act V into a modern setting
Gentlewoman enter.

Dr.: I’ve stayed up with you for two nights now, and I haven’t seen any evidence of what you were talking about. When was the last time you saw her sleepwalking?

Gentlewoman: Since Macbeth went to war, I have seen her rise from her bed, put on her nightgown, unlock her closet, take out some paper, fold it, write on it, read it, seal it up, and then return to bed, remaining asleep the entire time.

Dr.: It’s unnatural to be asleep and act as if you’re awake. When she is like this, besides walking and performing various activities, have you heard her say anything?

Gentlewoman: She says something, sir, but I will not repeat it to you.

Dr.: You can tell me. You really should.

Gentlewoman:I will not confess it to you nor to anyone else, because there was no one else to witness her speech.

Alexa Trevino | 37 comments Act 5 scene 5 plays a very crucial role to the entire plot because the witches had said his death would only come if "Burnam wood comes to Dunsinane" meaning if the forest moved. And sure enough a messenger saw the forest move because the army was using the logs of the trees as a shield. The best way I can think of modernizing the situation would be in a medical setting.
Doctor- the three witches
Paul- Macbeth
Nurse- messenger

Doctor: Paul, I've come to the conclusion that considering your predisposition to pancreatic cancer, if we do find it in the screening it will be terminal at this point.
Paul: So, my health otherwise doctor is fine?
Doctor: Yes, everything else is clear. Let me just get the results back to you as soon as possible.
(2 weeks later with results)
Nurse: Paul, I'm sorry but I bring bad news, we found a tumor in your pancreas, and the doctor was right, its at stage 4.
Paul: Lies, this cant be happening to me! But if what you say is true, I still want to fight it will all I got. Bring on the chemo!

Gilbert Salinas (GilbertAngelo) | 47 comments In Act IV Scene II and Scene III Macduff’s wife and child is murdered in and word comes to Macduff, which in my impression is a modern day plot of the film The Punisher. These scenes create a powerful revenge attitude where Macduff is playing the role of the punisher and Mcduff’s wife and kid as the punishers wife and kid.

Third Murderer: Macbeth.

Our offices and what we have to do
To the direction just.

First Murderer Then stay with us. There's still the sunset that glimmers: They are on their way, I see a glance of spur quickly coming our way.

So all men do, from hence to the palace gate

You must get revenge!

Janetrendon | 70 comments I chose Act III scene I, because I find it intriguing how Macbeth and Lady Macbeth invite Banquo to their dinner. Little does Banquo know that they are only luring him in so that, they can eventually kill him. They even sought out to kill his son Fleance.Macbeth hires two murders to commit such crime, who he has to remind and instigate them that Banquo is the bad guy, and they must take revenge on him.

Banquo- Elijah

Macbeth- Chris

Fleance-Aurther

Lady Macbeth- Teresa

Murder 1-as himself

Murder 2 –as himself

**MODERN VERSION:*

Enters Elijah

ELIJAH:

Now you have it all: you’re the king, the thane of Cawdor, and the thane of Glamis, just like the weird women promised you. And I suspect you cheated to win these titles. But it was also prophesied that the crown would not go to your descendants, and that my sons and grandsons would be kings instead. If the witches tell the truth—which they did about you—maybe what they said about me will come true too. But shhh! I’ll shut up now.

A trumpet plays. MACBETH enters dressed as king, and LADY MACBETH enters dressed as queen, together with LENNOX, ROSS, LORDS, LADIES, and their attendants

CHRIS: heres our most imporatant guest..refering to Elijah

TERESA:if we forgot him our celebration wouldn’t be any good.

CHRIS: Tonight were having a ceremonial banquet I want you to be there

ElIJAH: whatever your highness commands me to do I will do it,I shall be there

CHRIS:

Are you going riding this afternoon?

ELIJAH

Yes, my good lord.

CHRIS

We would have liked to have heard your good advice, which has always been serious and helpful, at the council today, but we’ll wait until tomorrow. Are you riding far?

ELJAH

I’m going far enough that I’ll be riding from now until dinner. Unless my horse goes faster than expected, I will be back an hour or two after sunset.

CHRIS

Don’t miss our feast.

ELIJAH

My lord, I won’t miss it.

CHRISWe hear that the princes, those murderers, have hidden in England and Ireland. They haven’t confessed to cruelly murdering their own father, and they’ve been making up strange lies to tell their hosts. But we can talk more about that tomorrow, when we’ll discuss matters of state that concern us both. Hurry up and get to your horse. Good-bye, until you return tonight. Is Fleance going with you?

ELIJAH

Yes, my good lord. It’s time we hit the road.

CHRIS

I hope your horses are fast and surefooted. And with that, I send you to them. Farewell.

ELIJAH exits.

Everybody may do as they please until seven o'clock tonight. In order to make your company even more enjoyable, I’m going to keep to myself until suppertime. Until then, God be with you!

Everyone exits except CHRIS and a SERVANT

(to the SERVANT) You there, let me have a word with you. Are those men waiting for me?

SERVANT

They’re waiting outside the palace gate, my lord.

CHRIS

Bring them to me.

The SERVANT exits.

To be the king is nothing if I’m not safe as the king. I’m very afraid of Banquo. There’s something noble about him that makes me fear him. He’s willing to take risks, and his mind never stops working. He has the wisdom to act bravely but also safely. I’m not afraid of anyone but him. Around him, my guardian angel is frightened, just as Mark Antony’s angel supposedly feared Octavius Caesar. Banquo chided the witches when they first called me king, asking them to tell him his own future. Then, like prophets, they named him the father to a line of kings. They gave me a crown and a scepter that I can’t pass on. Someone outside my family will take these things away from me, since no son of mine will take my place as king. If this is true, then I’ve tortured my conscience and murdered the gracious Duncan for Banquo’s sons. I’ve ruined my own peace for their benefit. I’ve handed over my everlasting soul to the devil so that they could be kings. Banquo’s sons, kings! Instead of watching that happen, I will challenge fate to battle and fight to the death. Who’s there!

The SERVANT comes back in with two MURDERERS

Now go to the door and stay there until I call for you.

The SERVANT exits.

CHRIS Wasn’t it just yesterday that we spoke to each other?

FIRST MURDERER

It was yesterday, your highness.

Chris

Well, did you think about what I said? You should know that it was Elijah who made your lives hell for so long, which you always thought was my fault. But I was innocent. I showed you the proof at our last meeting. I explained how you were deceived, how you were thwarted, the things that were used against you, who was working against you, and a lot of other things that would convince even a half-wit or a crazy person to say, “ELijah did it!

FIRST MURDERER

You explained it all.

CHRIS

I did that and more, which brings me to the point of this second meeting. Are you so patient and forgiving that you’re going to let him off the hook? Are you so pious that you would pray for this man and his children, a man who has pushed you toward an early grave and put your family in poverty forever?

FIRST MURDERER  We are men, my liege.

FIRST MURDERER

We are men, my lord.

CHRIS Yes, you’re part of the species called men. Just as hounds and greyhounds, mongrels, spaniels, mutts, shaggy lapdogs, swimming dogs, and wolf-dog crossbreeds are all dogs. But if you list the different kinds of dogs according to their qualities, you can distinguish which breeds are fast or slow, which ones are clever, which ones are watchdogs, and which ones hunters. You can classify each dog according to the natural gifts that separate it from all other dogs. It’s the same with men. Now, if you occupy some place in the list of men that isn’t down at the very bottom, tell me. Because if that’s the case, I will tell you a plan that will get rid of your enemy and bring you closer to me. As long as elijah lives, I am sick. I’ll be healthy when he is dead.

SECOND MURDERER

My lord, I’ve been so kicked around by the world, and I’m so angry, that I don’t even care what I do.

FIRST MURDERER

I’m the same. I’m so sick of bad luck and trouble that I’d risk my life on any bet, as long as it would either fix my life or end it once and for all.

CHRIS

You both know Elijah was your enemy.

BOTH MURDERERS

It’s true, my lord.

CHRIS He’s my enemy too, and I hate him so much that every minute he’s alive it eats away at my heart. Since I’m king, I could simply use my power to get rid of him. But I can’t do that, because he and I have friends in common whom I need, so I have to be able to moan and cry over his death in public even though I’ll be the one who had him killed. That’s why I need your help right now. I have to hide my real plans from the public eye for many important reasons.

SECOND MURDERER

We’ll do what you want us to, my lord.

FIRST MURDERER

Though our lives

CHRIS

(interrupts him) I can see the determination in your eyes. Within the next hour I’ll tell you where to go and exactly when to strike. It must be done tonight, away from the palace. Always remember that I must be free from suspicion. For the plan to work perfectly, you must kill both Banquo and his son, Fleance, who keeps him company. Getting rid of Fleance is as important to me as knocking off Banquo. Each of you should make up your own mind about whether you’re going to do this. I’ll come to you soon.

BOTH MURDERERS

We have decided, my lord. We’re in.

CHRIS

I’ll call for you soon. Stay inside.

The MURDERERS exit.

The deal is closed. Elijah, if your soul is going to make it to heaven, tonight’s the night.

He exits

Hi Arlette! I specifically like the modern setting you chose to re-imagine for this scene, especially for our era and our surrounding location. I also chose a scene with the witches because there are many ways to make their words your own in a very contemporary way. Great job!

Good afternoon Ricardo, your revised example is great! Not only did it assist in understanding the scene better because it was rewritten in contemporary English but the way you related each character to a modern person was fantastic! Such a great perpective.

Jesus, I like this scene I used the same one, I like how you summarized it and made it much more easy to comprehend. This is an important of the story ,it when mac Beth plots to kill Banquo ,and then becomes extremely guilt tripped afterwards.

Good job Jessica you did a real good modern play of act V of Macbeth by Shakespeare. Although you did not mention the exact modern setting or explain what character was going substitute what character from the original play. Everything else in your modern version fluid real smooth. I really enjoy reading it because this is one of my favorite act from the play Macbeth. But I do wish you would had change it up a bit and compare it with something else or at least put a different ending.

Good job Christina on this modern version of the play Macbeth by Shakespeare. Although you forgot to put the modern characters and setting. I really enjoy reading this act because it is one of my favorite acts in the play Macbeth. You did well on the modern English although I believed it would had been better if you would had put a little more of act V. In specific the part where Lady Macbeth starts rubbing her hands together trying to get the blood of her hands and starts to talk about the murder.

Hi Jessica. You chose an interesting scene in Macbeth to re-interpret. I didn't expect Lady Macbeth to have the change of heart that she did. Maybe it was just part of her super ego manifesting itself in her dreams. But we never actually heard her express remorse while she was awake right? Good job on your re-interpretation.

Hey Gilbert, the movie Punisher is a great way to interpret what happened to Macduff and his family. They both seek revenge for the murders who killed their family.

Ricardo, I was actually very impressed with the imagination put into your modern retelling. The setting and characters were very accurately portrayed with your dialog and it was almost like reading a modern day action thriller, good job.

Hey Maria, guilt is a strong thing and brought Lady Macbeth to her breaking point. This part of the story always reminds me of "The Tell-Tale Heart"by Edgar Allan Poe.

Hi Erick, your translation was a little different of how I imagined it. I see you used your opinions on how to change this part of the scene. I believe you think the witches weren't nothing real, they were just like a dream Macbeth had, and I love that! It makes a little more sense and I don't have to question myself if the witches are real or not. Great job!

I like the transition , now it is more comprehensive. imagine if the story was actually, written in our time. it would be interesting to compare both scenarios. I thing somehow the story can be related to our time.

Patricia Trejo (patriciasreads) | 13 comments I chose Act 1, Scene 6 when Duncan shows up at Macbeth's castle. He feels so safe and welcome not knowing he is going to be killed that same night by Macbeth himself. I'm changing it into a more modern setting.

Duncan: This home feels so warm and welcoming.

Banquo: This summer breeze sure feels great and it looks like a bird recently laid a nest above the house cause there's been a lot of chirping lately and it's loud and clear.

Duncan: Look here, it's our honored hostess. Thank you for having us here today!

Lady Macbeth: No problem, you are our guest and we will do anything we can to make you feel welcome. We are honored to have you here.

Duncan: Where is Thane of Cawdor? We are here to see him and tonight we are your guest so we are the ones honored to be here in your lovely home.

Lady Macbeth: Your servants have nothing to worry about while staying here, they are our guest as well and our serveants will attend to them.

Duncan: Give me your hand and take us to our host. We are very excited to see him.

Hi, Maria. Clearly Lady Macbeth's guilt was driving her towards revealing herself. I agree that her conscience was really pushing on her the evil of what she had done.

It looks much more simple and easy to understand now. Macbeth story line is hard to understand sometimes. It takes time to fully get in to the story, since the reader has to interpret in common words, what are the character saying.
