The Cuckoo's Calling is the first in the Cormoran Strike detective series by JK Rowling.

The book took awhile to get going; it felt like too much time was spent introducing characters and a lot of information seemed repetitive. But once the story got going, it was a fun detective story. I liked it enough to continue the series, anyway.
