JJ Hello!

I am seeking a sensitivity reader for a romantic fantasy (it will be a trilogy when finished) with a cast that features non-white characters.

I'd like to share some chapters and snippets with the reader which would involve one of my male protagonists who is of French-African heritage, in a story that is more a fairy tale fantasy version of 18th century Paris.

It's set in an alternative universe that doesn't touch on the negative real-life facts of what it might have been like for a person of color at the time. The non-white characters (a 20-something biracial man and his African mom) are magic users in the fantasy realm.

If you are a romance, historical fiction, or fantasy reader who is also a POC and you are willing to reading small bits for sensitivity for an agreed fee, let me know or email me at [email protected]

Thank you so much!
Julianne

ernie (erniesbookcamp) | 58 comments Wow, Julianne! I can already tell this will be an amazing story. As an African who's very appreciative of European and Asian cultures and languages (France and Japan are my dream destinations), I would love the opportunity to be a sensitivity reader for this trilogy.

I am an avid reader, and writer, of romance and fantasy and also edit and proofread them, too. With my experience and the experiences of other POC that I know, I can understand those aspects of your book that the nonwhite populace might not.

My rates for romance and young adult books and their subgenres are here:

If you'd like a line/copy edit and proofreading afterwards, here is a link to my rates, though this is negotiable:

Contact me for more details, as I'm super excited about the prospects of this trilogy. I can't wait to give it a beta/sensitivity read it!

Tina (teadee) | 221 comments Hi,
I would be more than happy to help you out with this project! I charge $45.00 for manuscripts up to 80,000 words and $ 50.00 for anything above that. I would have place starting in August if interested. The questions I tend to focus on are:
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS? WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE/LEAST FAVORITE AND WHY?
WAS THERE RE A PARTICULAR MOMENT WHEN YOU FELT HOOKED?
WHAT MADE YOU MOST EXCITED TO KEEP READING?
If this sounds like something that would be of interest to you, feel free to email at [email protected] and we could set up a free sample read.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Tina
