I read this in 2015 and gave it a 5 star rating. I loved it. I don't know if I would have the patience to read it now as these days I tend to stay away from giant undertakings due to my lowered attention span.

I watched a few episodes of the show while on vacation but never went back to it because I don't have movie channels and couldn't binge it on Netflix or Prime. lol

N.E.C.C. | 130 comments I read this book on 2015 and i remember liking it. I gave it 4 stars but i think it was more because of the hype of the tv show, for me it was more like a 3 stars.

I love fantasy but this type is not for me, i'm not into politics and this had too much of it for me. And too many characters to remember. I only liked Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister so most of the POV chapters (especially Sansa's) killed me.

Sansa, ugh! I also loved Tyrion and Jon Snow and the younger sister. :)

Greg | 1459 comments Shawnie and N.E.C.C., ha ha, I haven't read the book yet, but even in the TV series she was incredibly annoying.

She gets better in LATER seasons, but i never quite liked her.

Mike Curtis | 155 comments I was incredibly spoiled. I had friends recommend the Game of Thrones book series about 2 years before the TV series started. So I read book 1, really liked it, and was able to read book two without having to wait several years. Then it was announced that they were going to try turn it into a TV show and we all thought, "hmm, it will interesting to see if they can pull it off".

I read book 3 and loved it, and then season one of the TV series came out. Then season 2, book 4, etc. So I was always able to move on to the next book or TV season without having to wait very long. Well, until now...

I read 1 - 4 but never started book 5. As time goes on, I worry that I won't remember enough so I don't attempt it. As the series went on, my ratings diminished.

I have read them all to date but I must have started them at least 13 years back or so and remember that there was just enough suspense to keep me going back for more but it was way too political for me.

Christina (daria1275) | 1029 comments I recently started my reread of them because I want to read Fire and Blood and wanted to make sure the other books were fresh in my mind. I am finding that I love them (or rather it, since I am still reading Game of Thrones) just as much. I love the characters, I love the plots, I love the intrigue. They are not for everyone for sure and I do remember the first time I read them way back when that there were chapters that I was anxious to get through so I could get to the characters I actually wanted to hear about, but since reading them through once and watching the entire show, I am hoping that I will actually like some of those chapters and characterizations more upon reread.
