FAQs
How do I know if a book counts?
» A book counts if it is finished between the challenge dates! It must also fulfill one prompt.
How do I know if a book is a current or past BOTM?
» If the book you chose was a BOTM for this group, past or current, then you can count that as a BOTM book.
» You can tell if it's a past BOTM by checking the BOTM folder.
How do I know if a book is a buddy read?
» If you and another member would like to read a book together, then you can count that as a buddy read book.
» Buddies do not have to be on the same team.
How do points work for buddy reads?
» If you decide to do a buddy read with more than one teammate, you can earn 2 additional points for each buddy.
» For example, if you did a buddy read with 1 person, you get 2 additional points. If you did a buddy read with 2 other people, you get 4 additional points.
If multiple people participate in a buddy read, does everyone log the book? Or does only one person do that?
» It depends.
» If they are on the same team, only one person may log the book. Do not have every buddy log the book.
» If they are on different teams or are participating as individuals, both may log the book.
How long do the reviews have to be?
» Reviews should be at least 1 paragraph (or the equivalent in bullet points).
» They must be an "actual review." The review must include your opinion.
» A link to the review MUST be posted to receive points!
Can I post a review some time after reading a book?
» As long as you finished the book in December AND your review is posted BEFORE the end of the challenge, your review will count for points!
» Note that you must have a real review!
How do I know if a book is a Christmas book?
» If GR labels it as a Christmas book, then it is.
» If it takes place during Christmas, then it is, even if GR does not label it as such.
» The Christmas attribute point cannot be applied to the EASY BONUS prompts (for individuals) or the BONUS prompts (for teams).
Can you give an example of additional page scoring?
» Yes! Here are 3 examples!
» EX. 814 pages  8  1 = 7 points
» EX. 999 pages  9  1 = 8 points
» EX. 1000 pages  10  1 = 9 points
I'm on a team. What happens to books if we don't complete a full BONUS level?
» You must read all books in the “set to earn points for the PROMPT.
» Incomplete sets will still earn points for page count and attributes.
» Incomplete sets will not earn any prompt points, unless and until all books in the set are read.
You gave an example in our threads. Can I use that?
» Yes! In everyone's thread, I gave the example of using I Am Number Four for 4a. You may opt to read that book for points! You will not lose points for doing so.
Can I use the examples below?
» Yes! Any of the books below may be used for this challenge!
» You must however justify your choice.
Can mods participate? If so, why? Doesn't that give them an advantage?
» Yes, mods can participate! Being a mod is not an advantage. Everyone has equal access to the rules, the scoring, the challenge tasks, and anything else important. Thus, I see no problem with allowing mods to participate.
» That being said, I (Asia) will not be participating, as I will be moderating the challenge.

This month's challenge will be based on the Christmas carol, "12 Days of Christmas"!
~~~~~
START: December 1, 2021
END: December 31, 2021
1. You will work on your own OR as a team to complete 12 different tasks. Each task has 2 different prompts, easy and hard.
a. If you choose to participate on a team, you must log at least 4 books OR 20 points worth of books.
b. If you choose to participate on a team, you may create a team yourself. All members must agree to participate, and I MUST approve it.
c. Alternatively, if you choose to participate on a team, you may opt to be assigned to a random team.
2. You may choose to complete one or both prompts for each task. You may also choose which questions you would like to complete and in which order you complete them.
3. There are BONUS questions, which may be completed at any point. Depending if you are on your own or on a team, the BONUS prompts vary.
4. You cannot "reuse" a book for two different prompts. One book, one prompt.
5. You may, however, "reuse" a prompt. Once you complete a prompt, you may elect to redo it for half points, rounding down.
6. You will have the whole month of December to complete as many prompts as possible.
7. To participate, go to the sign up thread. If you have any questions, you can ask them there.
