John wrote: "Is it a list of twelve with the order decided as we go along, or does each book need to be pre-assigned a specific month?"
We're not that strict, John. Pick 12 books you plan to read over the course of the year. If you read one a month, that's great, but life can intrude.

There's a thread at another group where folks show their proposed reading for the following month. I'll just add one of these books to that list as I go along, which should work out well. Sometimes, it happens that a book looked like a good idea at the time I added it to my original TBR list, but I end up not finishing it, so glad there are alternates available here.

Whenever I used to do my monthly reading update, I also listed my next books in my various challenges. I didn't always follow it, but it gave people an idea of what I might be reading next. There were others that did the same thing. It's always nice getting a preview of other group members' coming attractions.

It's up to you how you want to track your challenges, Emily. Personally, I post each book completed with a link to my review and also track the books in each challenge. I hope that helps you.

to add to Bill's answer. You can simply strike through it, or place a checkmark; if you don't want to link to review or review at all.
Some folks don't even post anything until they're done. Kinda boring; but you can do what you want. LOL

Emily - even have a look through other challenges and you might get ideas from how other members do their challenges :)

@Vikki-I was thinking of searching that way for an idea as well. Just in case. Thanks for the idea! 😉🐾

Nnoooo; you can still participate. My search sometimes is wonky too; but it isn't necessary to have the link. We can look up books if we're interested in what you're reading. Please reconsider, Jim

Great list, Jim. Could you start up your own thread so you can keep track of them? All you have to do is go the beginning of the thread , 1st Annual Challenge, and then just click on 'new topic' at the right side of the title. You can then set up your own thread for people to comment and for you to keep track of what you read, if you want to do that.

I don't see why you couldn't make up a list now, and start the first book. Just remember you aren't supposed to change any of the books. But can substitute up to four from your alternative list.

NO!! PLEASE JOIN!! Just remember, you cannot change the list once it's made.
GOOD LUCK!!

Have you started a thread for you list, Sharon? It's easy to do and makes it simpler for others to comment and for you to keep track.
