Amy (Other Amy) | 32 comments Some more titles with positive emotions that don't mention the L word:

Brave New World
Great Expectations
Sense and Sensibility
War and Peace
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Alias Grace
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
Infinite Jest
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
Thank You, Jeeves
Lucky Jim
The Power and the Glory
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater
The Radiant Way
Clear Light of Day
The Optimist's Daughter
Wise Children
A Light Comedy
The Enchanted Wanderer: Selected Tales
The Comfort of Strangers
A Sentimental Journey

That's just a quick selection based on a browse through. I also didn't include laughter, or singing either, and there are quite a few of those, which I think fit the prompt. There are a lot more with light as well, if you consider that an emotion word.

Luke (korrick) | 163 comments You can feel "nice" or "good" as positive emotions, so The Nice and the Good by Iris Murdoch will be my choice.

Out of my "to-read" list I'm pulling up On Love by Alain de Botton of Switzerland, “a hip, charming, and devastatingly witty rumination on the thrills and pitfalls of romantic love.
It'll be my first book by a Swiss author.
My notes say it's $3 on kindle.

Missing from the first list and my likely candidate: The Lover

Bob Kaufman (bobkaufman) | 639 comments I just finished The Blithedale Romance by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Romance in the 1800s signified a positive emotion.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 104 comments Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton
Bonheur d'occasion by Gabrielle Roy (the English title is The Tin Flute but the original French title means secondhand happiness)

Andrew | 17 comments I think it'll be Love in the Time of Cholera for me.

Becky (munchkinland_farm) | 248 comments Finished Women in Love - I tried to like it, but I had to slog my way through to the end. Without this challenge, I probably would have abandoned it.

Mel | 23 comments Thanks Diane for recommending The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton for this one! I was about to read Age of Innocence but switched to The House of Mirth so I could satisfy this task! This novel came into my life at the perfect time, I gave it 5 stars, and it's now one of my favorite books of all time.

I've finished On Love by Alain de Botton. At the end he mentions the (1001) novel Madame Bovary by Balzac, which I was already planning to use for my "1001 book mentioned in another 1001 book I read this year" scavenger task, after seeing it mentioned in The Idiot. Weird that it was mentioned in two books I've read this year (in less than three months); must be a sign!

Funny that it was missed, one of three "Lover" titles along with "Sons and..." and "Lady Chatterly's...". It's a short one.
