Ah, the series. You've gotta love 'em, eh? So many great ones to start and to continue to work through.

Ha...I get so excited when I'm reading the last book in a series - like one I'm reading now, from The Expanse series. Then I get sad. Because, I'm reading the last book in a series. Doh.

Lea (leaspot) | 3458 comments Linette, I had to laugh at your situation with reading the last book in a series. I am the exact same way - so excited because I will be at the end and know what happens, and then so massively disappointed because there isn't any more. There's no pleasing me. :-)

I have read and enjoyed A Gentleman in Moscow, Fragile, Project Hail Mary, Recursion, Scythe, the Anne of Green Gables series, and Last Breath. I was going to abandon the Court of Thorns and Roses series, but now A Court of Silver Flames sounds good, so I am going to keep going for now.

We have a lot of the same books on our lists. I have Home Before Dark, Malibu Rising, Tales from Watership Down, The Last Thing He Told Me, King of Scars and Rule of Wolves, and Under the Whispering Door. I didn't put Twelve Months on my list, because I'm not sure when Jim Butcher will finish it and I don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't happen soon. I'm so anxious to read the next book in the series!!

Good luck and hope you have fun with the books you chose.

Hah, exactly, Lea - no pleasing me. :) Jim Butcher will be another bittersweet series finish.
Funny, I'm the same way with the Sarah J Maas books - they make me roll my eyes so hard I strain a muscle with their highschool drama...but then they get quite good for a while. And second book better than first...less eye rolling...so..okay I'll try book 3. But I bet I roll my eyes a lot. And then read book 4. :)

Ioana | 2055 comments Lots of good books, nice variety. Here are some that I've read and enjoyed: Big Lies in a Small Town, Home Before Dark, Ordinary Grace, Project Hail Mary, Recursion, Sleeping Giants, The Kind Worth Killing, The Perfect Husband, The Time Machine, A Closed and Common Orbit, Under the Whispering Door.
I have quite a few others on my TBR, I hope you'll have a wonderful year of reading!

Linette, you have summarized my exact situation with the Sarah J Maas books. While I'm reading them, I'm sure it is the last one, but once I'm done, I forget the parts that made my eyes roll and just remember the main plot points and tell myself, "It really wasn't all that bad. And don't you want to know what happens next..." I do want to know what happens next, but some of the places she goes makes me roll my eyes...and here we go again. Another case of no pleasing me!! Good to know that it's not just me... :-)

Alondra, Malice is only back on my list because of you, hoping if I give it a better try this time that I'll like it the way you and other friends did.

Ioana, that's great that you enjoyed so many of the books I'm diving into this year, can't wait to see if I like them too.
