It’s that time to begin thinking about the new year! Hopefully, you have already given this some thought and are ready to start stating your goals for our challenge in the coming year.

Since we all have different numbers of series with variable numbers of books within each series, it's impossible to set plain "number of series" goals for comparison. And, we all have different approaches to tackling our TBR shelves and series. But! We have a common objective in making a dent in those shelves.

So, tell us what you're hoping to achieve with this challenge in 2022? I'll set them up in the Reading Tracker as they're added here.

I only have two goals which is to read :

Continue to read books from series I like

Continuing on from my 2021 goal to diversify my reading, my goals for this year are:

1. Read 5 new-to-me authors
2. Read 5 books in genres that I do not typically read.

I will also try to

3. Complete 5 series in different genres
4. Continue 5 stagnated series

In 2021, I changed things up a bit and liked my direction so I’ll continue with those goals but adjust some of the numbers.

3. Authors of Another Culture - 10
4. Standalones - 48
5. Total Read - 150

My 2022 goals:

1. Read 40 standalone books (half of which I've owned for 2+ years.)
2. Series Up to Date - 10
3. Series Completed - 10

1) Read 23,000 pages
2) Read 60 books
3) Read 5 books that have been made into movies/TV shows
4) Read 3 Trilogies
5) Complete 3 series
6) Get up-to-date in 3 series
7) Read as many new releases as I can

4. Read 10 stand-alone books

i will try for:

2. read 2 classics / golden oldies

4. read 2 XXL / Sumo books from the Taschen series (Rembrandt, Disney e.g.)

Everyone has fantastic goals. TBH my goals are much smaller. What I want to accomplish

1. Read 25 books
2. Read at least 3 classic novels
3. Read some YA books my daughter has been asking me to read
4. Try and read on a daily basis

I’ve created the 2022 trackers and believe I’ve captured everyone’s goals that can be tracked.

Let me know if I’ve missed something.

Goals:
1. Read at least 200 books.
2. Continue to try authors new to me - at least 10 this year.
3. Read at least half of Karen Rose's back list.
4. Get the number of books on my physical TBR shelf down below 400.
5. Read at least 10 books that fall outside my romance comfort zone.
6. Use the library as much as possible rather than buying new books.

Aside from the occasional pop-in, I've been mostly absent from ŷ������ for the past two years. Worse, I've hardly done any reading at all during that time. I guess you can call it the reading slump from hell. I'm easing my way back into things and not pinning myself down with too many planned reads, just going to go with the flow for now but would like to set some simple goals for myself.

1. Read 30 books
2. Get up to date on at least 3 series
3. Read 10 books that I already own but haven't read yet
4. Read at least one classic

Lynn, I think there are trackers that fit your goals…maybe not that library goal, though. Do you want a library rental tracker?

I didn't do great on my goals. I only read 24 books. I did read books from series that I like though.

I'm not going to hit any of the goals that I posted. I think I'll have to shave off a few numbers when I try again next year. Still had fun though.

Thank you, Robin! My goal was to read at least 4 standalones each month while keeping up with my series. The reality was I was able to read more via audiobooks so both goals were exceeded.
