Mine is Seize the Day by Saul Bellows. It's a short one.

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 560 comments My 19 is The Master and Margarita. That has been on my tbr for a while!

message 153: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2121 comments My #19 is Farewell My Lovely which should be fun.

Pamela (bibliohound) | 561 comments My #19 is The Go-Between

19. Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon

message 156: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1667 comments My #19 is "To the North" by Eliza eth Bowen: excited to see how it goes.

message 157: by Rosemary (last edited Sep 25, 2023 10:43AM) (new)

Rosemary | 676 comments Mine is The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette. Not one I'm very excited about, but hoping it will surprise me.

message 158: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments Mine is Alain de Bottom’s On Love. Can’t remember why I chose it!

message 159: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 554 comments I thought about trying to dive back in to this game for the last 3 months, but my #19 is Agnes Gray, which I already finished a couple weeks ago. I may try to finish some of the books already selected in the months while I was trying to dig myself out of an odd sort of reading slump. That way I at least occomplish the goal of finishing half of my TBR game list by the end of the year, even if not with extra points. :)

message 160: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Sweigart | 92 comments My #19 is The Long Goodbye. Can't let Gail have all the noir fun.

message 161: by Karen (new)

Karen | 422 comments Mine is fitting for the time of year...Interview with the Vampire.

Great title for October, happy reading.

November tbr # is 18. What will you be reading?

My 18. The End of the Affair by Graham Greene 160 pages. A nice short one so I am happy about that.

message 166: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 560 comments My 18 is The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard. Also a short one, fortunately as I've fallen behind. I haven't read September's or October's books yet in spite of really wanting to read them both.

message 167: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2121 comments My # 18 is the Spy That Came in from The Cold, also a short one.

message 168: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments Mine is Julian Barnes The Sense of an Ending. For the 3rd month in a row I have been unable to find the book I know I have owned on my actual TBR shelf. So much for Death Cleaning. More importantly I seem to have lost my much tattered and annotated copy of 1001 books!

message 169: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1667 comments My #18 is 'day of the dolphin' which is short and on open library. Just read the premise and curious about how that's going to be pulled off.

message 170: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 676 comments Mine is The Melancholy of Resistance which I know nothing about, and it looks rather daunting. But I'll give it a try.

FINALLY! I get to read a Barthelme set of short stories (Come Back, Dr Caligari). For good measure, I will also read Amateurs once I am done, that will be the end of Barthelme for me.

My 18 is A Home at the End of the World, so I will read it in November instead of December.

message 173: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Sweigart | 92 comments My #18 is Sometimes A Great Notion. I read Cuckoo's Nest about 50 years ago so this one is probably overdue.

December tbr # is 8. What will you be reading.

And do you want to continue tbr for next year. So far those that have responded the majority would like to continue.

Happy reading.

message 175: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 561 comments My #8 is Winter by Ali Smith. Appropriate choice.

I would want TBR takedown to continue, I look forward to each month’s number.

message 176: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2121 comments I also would like TBR to continue and I love that Pamela got Winter for this month’s read but unfortunately I my #8 is Journey to the End of the Night.not how I wanted to end the year.

message 177: by Daisey (last edited Nov 25, 2023 06:55AM) (new)

Daisey | 330 comments My 8 is Mrs. Dalloway, and I would like to continue the TBR Takedown next year. It’s probably the part of the group I’m the best at keeping up with, although I didn’t get every month this year.

8. Empire of the Sun by J.G. Ballard. I am happy with this choice and I get to watch a movie after, sweet.

I want TBR to continue too:)

Don't forget to get started on next year's list. You will have to post before December 25th.

message 179: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 560 comments My 8 is Bel-Ami by Guy de Maupassant. Probably suitable enough for a December read.

I really want the TBR takedown to continue. It's one of my favourite reading challenges across all my groups. I've fallen off a bit and not completed the last couple of months, but I'm hoping to catch up anyway and looking forward to putting next year's list together.

But it fits, the end of our year in North America is our longest night!

As Diane said, start putting your list together because it needs to be done before 12/25.

message 182: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments My #8 is Camus The Rebel. I’m looking forward to it - and, yes, please, to TBR continuing. I have my list prepared already!

message 183: by Rosemary (last edited Nov 25, 2023 01:48PM) (new)

Rosemary | 676 comments I really hope this will continue! I will keep the books that haven't been picked this year and add some longer ones for more of a challenge.

message 184: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 5047 comments Mod
It will continue, the faithful want it so we will keep it.

message 185: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1667 comments My #8 and final TBR is "Billiards at Half-Past Nine". I've loved doing the tbr the past few years, but I think I'm just going to plow through all of the books I have left on the list in the new year until I'm finished (but will be doing the annual, and BOTMs and quarterlies where applicable)

message 186: by Jane (new)

Jane | 318 comments I would like it to continue as this would be my first year to participate :)

message 187: by Karen (new)

Karen | 422 comments My number 8 is The Red and the black which is the only book I did not want to come up in December but oh well.

I would love to see this challenge back as it is the one I always prioritise. I have drawn up a longlist of potentials already.

message 188: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Sweigart | 92 comments My #8 is Surfacing

Glad to see the game will continue.
