Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments Well, I must say that I didn't expect to laugh so much reading P.D. Viner's latest thriller, The Call. Don your disbelief suspenders and just enjoy the rollercoaster ride.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments It took me a while, because I had to read the first three of the series, but I finally got to the fourth book in Aussie author, Robert Gott's Holiday Murders series, The Orchard Murders. Very atmospheric, but he did kill off someone I quite liked, a la Mick Herron.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments I may be considerably older than the target readership for Aussie author, Monica McInerney's first book for children, Marcie Gill and the Caravan Park Cat, but I enjoyed it immensely. Utterly charming!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments The blurb and the cover of Geo, by American author, Topher Allen got me in, and it was pretty good up to about three quarters, but 30% action scenes was an overdose for me: I skimmed to the end. Might translate well to animated cartoon.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments I loved the print version of Aussie author Richard Anderson's latest novel, Small Mercies, and I'm pleased to say that Nicholas Osmond is the perfect narrator for this moving, topical tale.

Carolyn | 9716 comments Her Hidden Genius by Marie Benedict Her Hidden Genius by Marie Benedict is a novel based on the life of Rosalind Franklin who was instrumental in collecting the data Watson & Crick used without her knowledge to develop their Nobel Prize winning model of the DNA helix. It's well done and a good read if you enjoy historical fiction based on on real people.

Carolyn | 9716 comments You Had It Coming by B.M. Carroll You Had It Coming by AA B.M. Carroll (aka Ber Carroll) is a thoughtful, well written crime novel featuring the murder of a barrister skilled at getting acquittals for those accused of rape. It looks at the repercussions of such trials and the effect on the lives of this involved.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments When I started Fancy Meeting You Here, I didn’t really like the protagonist all that much, so it says a lot that Ali Berg and Michelle Kalus were able to win me over to rating this one 5ȴ.
