Jordan | 8 comments Hi everyone, I am far along with my novel editting process and I am looking for beta readers to go through te first 100 pages and answer a fundamental question.... is the novel captivating? Would you read on?

I am looking for beta readers with a Western background (I am not intending on publishing it in other territories for now) to read the first 100 pages and then provide me with a page or two of feedback. Would you read on. Does the hook work? (I don't need inline feedback at this point, just readers who go through the first 100 pages and tell me if they liked it)

I am looking for 5/6 people in total

First two chapters are here:

The blurb is as follows:

It's 2084 America. Quill Killian has a modest family business, no social media presence, and few friends. His life is uneventful. That is until the government confiscates his business and enrols his entire family into the national euthanasia program.

His crime? He's in debt.

Aya St.Vincent's life has been eventful in all the wrong ways. Abused by her father and tossed around foster families, her life is one big protest against Bulletin Incorporated; the social media monopoly that's enjoying its seventh term as president

With four weeks to escape euthanasia, Quill & Aya plan the heist of the century but instead find themselves in the centre of a national conspiracy.

Their actions will decide the fate of millions.

Abii | 54 comments Hi Jordan,

This manuscript sounds very interesting and I’d love to give it a read if you’re still looking for beta readers.

I have four years experience developmental editing and 3 beta reading. I also have experience polishing manuscripts for publications and final drafts. My speciality is fantasy, but I also read paranormal, mystery, romance, historical fiction etc. and your work is exactly what I’m looking for!
I’m flexible with pricing and dates. Also, for the new year I’m offering a discounted price for editing and beta reading, so if you’re interested let me know.

Here is a link to my website with the reviews.  (Editing page)  (beta reading page).

Best,
Abi

Ayesha Abdul | 262 comments Hi Jordan,
I am interested in beta reading for you. I feel like your story sounds so familiar so maybe you have posted here before or we have discussed it previously or something. Something about the euthanasia program rings a bell. My website, has more information about my services, examples of my commenting style, and testimonials. There are also more testimonials on my Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ thread: /topic/show/...

Thanks,
Ayesha

Sheryl | 12 comments Hi Jordan,

This sounds like a great concept for a novel. I'd love to read it. I have experience in beta reading (though mostly free). I've also studied fiction theory (I'm going to be a developmental editor soon), so I think I know what makes a good story.

Things I'll comment on:
How I felt about your manuscript
Is the story paced well?
Characters (Are they developed well? Are they believable? etc.)
Relationships
World building
Narrative summary (are you using too much that it feels like an info dump?)
Plot
Beginnings and endings
Dialogue
POV (Is your character's voice distinctive?)
Style
And more!

I don't just give constructive criticism, I will also let you know what I liked about your story. I think this will be more helpful to you, instead of me just listing the things I think you might need to work on.

Here's a link to my Fiverr:

I accept custom orders. I usually provide in line comments as well as a reader report. As you're not interested that, I can work for you at a lower price.

Kind regards,
Sheryl

Jaz Bromen | 5 comments Hey hey!!

I learned to love reading due to an early obsession with books. Novels are my favorite, but I do it all! I will work with you from page one to publication if that is what it takes. I am meticulous, hard-working, and particular. I also offer FREE samples of your work to see if we are a good fit!

I am extremely detail-oriented and will be able to keep track of inconsistencies within a story. I will beta read for flow and consistency. I will give you feedback on all aspects of your story including world-building, characters, plot points, and anything else you want specific feedback on. I will also fill out a beta reader questionnaire if you want me to.

I am meticulous in my work, and I keep to my schedule, barring any extenuating circumstances. My feedbacks are extremely detailed. I work very hard on the beta reading projects, and they are my genuine opinions as a reader. I read hundreds of books per year, and I have been reading for almost two decades. I will detail the strong and the weak points of the manuscript along with the reasons. I am willing to beta read series as well!!

I will leave all of my comments and feedback in the Word document of the manuscript you send to me. If you would prefer to use a different program, please let me know, and I will see what we can do.

I also edit and proofread!!! Regular, clear, and punctual communication is vital to me, so let's keep in touch!

Feel free to also check out my profile on Upwork:

My email address is [email protected]

Hoping to hear from you
Jaz

Lily (starlightmoonlight) | 12 comments Hello Jordan!

I'm based in the US and have read hundreds of mainstream Western books. I do beta reading, freelance editing, and book reviewing for indie authors. In terms of beta reading and editing, I'm currently offering free sample edits for writers who are looking for an editor. These edits will cover one of the most important sections of your book: the opening pages. Readers often use the first few pages of a book to gauge their interest as well as your writing level, so you will definitely want your first few pages to be clear and compelling. I offer both line/copy edits as well as developmental edits, but I prefer to do both together when editing a book. In the sample edit, I will correct typos, sentence structure, grammatical mistakes, comma misuse, run-on sentences, comma splices, and more concerning the first few pages of your manuscript as well as offer you some general tips on improving your writing.

Please only ask for a sample edit if you are truly interested in my beta reading and/or editing services and are open to hiring a beta reader/editor. If you have questions concerning any of my services or my rates (book reviews are always free, but I have a very affordable rate for beta reading and editing), feel free to contact me here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ or through my email. And if you do indeed have a WIP or a completed manuscript that you'd like a sample edit of, please also reach out to me here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ or at [email protected].

All the best,

Lily
