Chrissy | 1129 comments The audiobook service libro.fm (a great alternative to Audible/Amazon that supports independent bookstores) has a yearlong audiobook challenge I just saw! I usually listen to about 20-30 audiobooks in a year, and this challenge has 24 prompts, so I think I’ll give it a try in parallel with (and overlapping) my other challenges.
Here’s the link to prompts: -...

If others are interested in joining, I’m willing to share a spreadsheet version that I am typing up tonight. We could even make listopias for the prompts where it would be helpful, if there’s enough interest!

Chrissy | 1129 comments I've divided the prompts into 15 that are 1 book each, and 9 that are other things. Some of these "others" are marketing for libro.fm, but I'm not thinking of them as necessary. Even if you use the library or Audible instead (which I will for at least half of these), you can still access libro.fm's playlists and suggestions for prompts.

Listening prompts
1 Listen to a bookseller-recommended audiobook
2 Listen to a new release audiobook the week it is released
3 Listent to an audiobook by an LGBTQIA+ author
4 Listen to a new-to-you genre
5 Listen to an audiobook by an author with a disability
6 Listen to an audiobook you chose just because of the narrator
7 Listen to an audiobook by an Indigenous author
8 Listen to an audiobook by an AAPI author
9 Listen to an audiobook by a Latinx author
10 Listen to an audiobook by an Arab or Arab-American author
11 Listen to an audiobook by a Black author
12 Listen to an audiobook with a full cast of narrators
13 Listen to an audiobook published more than 5 years ago
14 Listen to an audiobook narrated by the author
15 Finish an entire audiobook in one weekend or less

Other prompts
A. Listen to at least 10 minutes every day for a full month
B. Explore alternatives to Amazon/Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, like StoryGraph or Readerly
C. Pre-order an audiobook
D. Redeem your libro.fm credit the same month you get it
E. Send an appreciative note to your favorite bookstore
F. Try a new listening speed
G. Recommend an audiobook on social media (and tag @librofm)
H. Refer a freind or family membar to libro.fm (and get a free audiobook)
I. Give someone the gift of an audiobook or a libro.fm membership

Tiffany Anderson (miss5elements) | 331 comments I'm just seeing this. Since most of my books are audiobooks, I'll join! I'm not a member of libro.fm, but that could change today. Most of my audiobooks come from my library, but I have Scribd membership & I'll buy one from Apple if need be.

Chrissy | 1129 comments I've been quietly participating on my own spreadsheet, and am currently at 8/15 of the listening prompts and 3 of the others.

My favorite so far (which I probably wouldn't have listened to without this challenge) was The Confession of Copeland Crane, by a Black author.
