It's pretty simple.

Answer the questions left before you and then ask some for the next person.

Please remember: ANSWER the questions left immediately BEFORE your post and be sure to leave 3 questions for the next person to answer!

1) What is your favorite Book, why?

2) In your opinion, who is the most influential author of the 20th century, and why?

3) What book would you like to live in?

1) My favorite book is The Talisman. It is an epic journey and it is perfect. Danger, Fantasy, Sci-Fi elements and more danger. I love Stephen King

2) I could pick a more "literary" author, so I could make an acceptable pick; but I am going to stick with what I know. Stephen King. Because everyone tries to pigeon-hole him as a horror writer; but then he writes something like The Green Mile or 11/22/63, and the critics and naysayers shut their mouths. He has influenced many authors, not just horror, because of his ability to write a complete and whole character.

3) I have lived in them all. I am currently living somewhere in a far galaxy, just trying to survive on the Rocinante.

Jonnie Deitz | 15 comments 1) I don't know if I have a favorite. But I'll pick the one that got me hooked on reading and mystery, horror, and vampires. It is Pandora by Anne Rice.

2) I think I agree with you that Stephen King would be one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. He has put out lots of stories and he has also put out stuff to help new writers.

3) Thats really tough. I have wanted at one point to live through almost all of them. But I think currently I want to live in the Percy Jackson Series. I love Greek Mythology and seeing it in present day life would be fun.

My Questions:

1) What was the first book that you remember reading at any age?

2) If you could talk to your favorite author, what 1 question would you ask them?

3) Do you perfer paper books, ebooks, or audio books?

message 4: by Faouzia (new)

Faouzia | 306 comments 1) Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. I probably read others before it but that one stuck to my memory because my beloved French teacher recommended it to me at school.

2) Do you plan on killing off a good character from the beginning or do you get these evil thoughts somewhere along the way?
I can't count the times my heart was broken because I lost a dear character.

3) I much prefer paper books to any other version. although I do read ebooks occasionally.

now my questions:

1) would you give a genre you absolutely do not want to read a try because of a recommendation of a trusted friend? why?

2) what made you start reading in the first place?

3) what is your least favourite or most disappointing book? why?

'
1) No. If they are my friend, then they know not to ask me to read something I don't like. 😂

2) I don't know. All I know is that for as long as I could read, I did. In kindergarten, I read everything I could get my hands on.

3) Mister B. Gone by Clive Barker. I thought I was getting horror, and it was no where close to it. One of the worst books ever. Also; Getting Out of Jersey. The worst zombie book ever

My Questions:

1. Who is your favorite author and why?

2. What was the last 5 Star book you read??

3. What was the last 1 Star book you read??

Olivia (sigkapoli) | 43 comments 1. Who is your favorite author and why? This is difficult, I've had favorites over the years, but I don't know if I can single anyone out. I will say that my first favorite would be Carolyn Keene (Mildred Wirt & others) because the Nancy Drew books cemented my love of reading in 2nd grade. I was hooked. In high school, Ernest Hemingway was my favorite, then Mary Higgins Clark. I adore Diana Gabaldon & started reading the Outlander books when they were published in the 90s, she's a detailed storyteller & sometimes I just need to be swept up and carried away to another time & place.

2. What was the last 5 Star book you read??
The Betrayal of Anne Frank A Cold Case Investigation by Rosemary Sullivan
"not so much a mystery as a well-kept secret" Fascinating read that approaches the story from a cold-case perspective.

3. What was the last 1 Star book you read??
The Women in Black by Madeleine St. John
I finished this, but not sure why. It was awful and whiny.

My questions:

1. How would you encourage a reluctant reader?

2. Best book picked up on a whim?

3. Your most anticipated book for 2022?

Can't believe no one answered. So, i will,

1) Find out what their interests are and encourage them to read about their interests. Also, maybe have them try an audiobook.

2) Half the books are pick up and read are on a whim, ssooooo...

3) Most anticipated and best book of 2022 was Fairy Tale

....My Questions:

1) What was your best read of 2022??

2) What was your worst read of 2022??

3) What book surprised you (in a good way)??

message 8: by Tone (new)

Tone | 34 comments 1) What was your best read of 2022??
It's hard to pick just one, but I'll go for Foster by Claire Keegan as this was such a beautiful novel by a (for me) new author

2) What was your worst read of 2022??
There are a couple of candidates, but Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney was a great disappointment, as I don't believe in the supernatural

3) What book surprised you (in a good way)??
Meredith, Alone by Claire Alexander, also a new author for me

My questions:
1) What is your favourite literary genre?
2) What genre(s) do you avoid?
3) How do you usually discover new authors?

The last book was The Rose Code by Kate Quinn

My pet peeve is turned-down page corners.

The best gift would be a special bookmark.

1) When and where do you usually read?

2) Which book has caused you to cry and why?

3) Do you have a book that you read years ago in which you can remember words or images still?

1. Usually curled up on the couch or in bed.

2. Pretty much any book by Charles Martin. His books not only tug at yur heart strings, but he has a way of inserting Biblical scripture and values in his books that make you look deep within your soul.

3. Yes. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Questions:
1. Is there one book you think everyone should read in their lifetime? Which one and why?

2. What genre do you avoid like the plague? 🤣

3. Do you participate in reading challenges throughout the year? If so, which ones?

1. Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. It is relatable to everyone. Fabulous writing. Dark themes, hope, fantastical and completely amazing.
Hon. Mention: Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison

2. Romance/Romantasy *eye roll*

3. 12+4, Individual, ATW and States.

2. What is the last 5 star read you had; this year or last year.

3. What is some great reading advice that you give all the time??

Answers:

1. Absolutely. If the book is good, I'll read it. The author's reputation doesn't matter much to me.

2. My last 5-star reads were all by Scandinavian authors, and I don't think any of them have been translated yet. So I'll go with an earlier read, i.e. "Beware the Woman" by Megan Abbott.

3. Don't read what other people think you should read. Choose for yourself!

Questions:

1. What do you say when visitors a look at your bookshelves and ask: have you really read all these books?

2. Coming home from the bookstore with a stack, what do you say when your spouse asks: where are you going to put them?

3. Do you appreciate it when people give you books for birthdays and Christmas?

message 16: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 1246 comments 1. What do you say when visitors a look at your bookshelves and ask: have you really read all these books?
I say - I haven't read any of them. I don't keep books I've already finished. I do not have room for them. I donate all my completed books to charity or our local used bookstore or the library.

2. Coming home from the bookstore with a stack, what do you say when your spouse asks: where are you going to put them?
I do not have this problem. I only have one (large) bookcase, so I only buy physical books that replace the ones I've removed (after finishing). The rest of my books are e-books or audiobooks, which store nicely on one small device.

3. Do you appreciate it when people give you books for birthdays and Christmas?
Yes! I always appreciate getting books. There are very few readers in my family so this is rare.

Questions:
1. How do you pick the next book you will read?

2. Which book has had the biggest influence on your life?

3. What is your policy on finishing each book you start? Do you push through even if you are not enjoying it or do you abandon it?
