Lynne Stringer | 344 comments Do you listen to music while you read? If so, what do you listen to? I could really do with some new songs/music, especially when it comes to fast-paced action scenes.

Jenna Marie ~Scheming Scribbler~ | 229 comments Fast-paced scenes I always listen to kpop rap, it gets me feeling upbeat. I then have a more chill playlist I play while I read the slower scenes with all of my kpop favorites!

message 3: by Reed (new)

Reed (reedster6) | 166 comments Yes all different genres of music🎵

message 6: by Kristin Jane (new)

Kristin Jane (kristinshep) | 70 comments while I read? well i listen to heavy metal mainly, so if it's any other genre of music while I read, I can't concentrate on the book lol

message 7: by Lavie (new)

Lavie Cloudy | 2 comments Nope,I want to but I can’t because I need to concentrate on the book

Depends on the vibe of the book lol

message 10: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan | 130 comments no, it's super distracting. the words sung distract me from the words i'm reading. but if i feel like it i'll put on some classical music. but only slow music because fast stuff also distracts me

message 11: by Addison (new)

Addison sometimes i listen to lo-fi

champagne_problems4 | 16 comments No before I used to be ok when listening to music while reading now I can't focus it's too distracting

message 13: by Pearl (new)

Pearl Perla (pe3rla4) | 72 comments No, I don't. I always need to be focused in the development of the story.

message 14: by julia (new)

julia (no_mourners_no_funerals) | 51 comments usually, but it definitely depends on the vibe of the book

i often play folklore long pond or lana del rey (blue banisters/born to die albums mostly) bc they're quieter and with taylor i know the words so well that i'm not trying to finish them in my head while i'm reading

message 15: by Talkbookish (new)

Talkbookish | 73 comments Nope, I can't do that. It's too difficult to concentrate on the book when the music is blaring in the background. It's very distracting. It's either listening to music or reading, not simultaneously.

message 16: by natasha (new)

natasha ✧ strangely I used to do this but as I've grown up I stopped haha

emma (taylor's version) (emmaareader) | 28 comments julia wrote: "usually, but it definitely depends on the vibe of the book

harsha | 16 comments i haven't actually tried it but i feel like it'll distract me xD

message 20: by ä (new)

ä de Vos I (almost) always listen to classical music while reading. It makes me go completely lost in the world. But when I'm reading a scene where the music is not fitting or the music is distracting I just read in silence

message 21: by nat (new)

nat | 5 comments yesss somehow even rap helps me concentrate

August (Dean's Version) | 110 comments Never ever unless it's fanfiction or my own stories for some reason.

message 23: by Morgen (new)

Morgen | 8 comments Yes! I love listening to music while I read. Unless the book is hard for me to concentrate on, or I know the song really well and love it.

message 24: by Evie (new)

Evie R. (evierysik) | 2 comments Sometimes. the artists I listen to while reading are Mree, Bon Iver, Hammock, and Explosions In The Sky. I listen on the lowest volume so the music acts as background noise.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I've tried but then I become distracted and start singing instead of reading so no.

Destinee | 1 comments I like to listen to lofi music when I read. its very calming for me

message 28: by Pal (new)

message 31: by Violence (new)

Violence | 8 comments I can't because I get distracted and start to sing ┻━┻︵└(՞▽՞ └). If I do, it has to be some melodies without lyrics. So I actually never do it.

message 32: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Goldstein | 140 comments I just prefer silence or white noise when i read, not music

message 33: by Eva (new)

message 34: by Maha (new)

Maha | 2 comments I do if the books boring, i have a specific playlist with like booktok songs and other songs. If its a booktok book i'm reading i'll search up a playlist on spotify.

message 35: by Ericka (new)

Ericka | 27 comments I don’t, I can’t. I’m too focused on my book. If I listen to anything.. tv, music, etc. I read too slow and can’t concentrate on the story.

maddie!! | 2 comments Yes! Depending on the book I’ll go to spotify to see if there is any specific playlists people have made for the book and listen to that, or I’ll just listen to Taylor Swift haha.

message 44: by Judy (new)

Judy no I don't because I'll just zone the music out so I'd rather not put it on in the first place
however I used to put music in the past

message 45: by sophie (new)

sophie (scenoza) | 1 comments i want to! i guess it is a way to vibe with the book i'm reading. but no matter how i badly wanted to do so, i always get distracted by the sound of it. (T^T)
