This month we are reading a short work by Nella Larsen. It was recently made into a movie. Please discuss the movie and any spoilers from the book in the other thread.

I am leaving for Greece tomorrow so I won't be adding any comments until I get back, but all of y'all are welcome to start the discussion.

I read this book last year and loved it, so I hope all of you do too.

Thanks for the biographical note! Her life certainly embodies the fragility of Black economic lives and makes her having published a few novels even more awe-inspiring. Looking forward to the book.

I have to finish up A House and Its Head before I can start this one.

I’m a little over halfway through and am very surprised at how modern the storytelling style is, aside from the occasional inverted syntax. The atmospheric descriptions, filtering all the action through Irene’s thoughts, it doesn’t feel like a 1920s novel at all.

I need to finish my book for my local book club first. It is on Thursday.

I am in the second part. I am not exactly sure what to think.
