You should read some books about Rome, but I don't even need to be in the mood :)

I hope you read and enjoy.

However, I enjoy medieval/highlander road trips (primarily due to Julie Garwood's books). If they do encounter trouble, the hero (typically a warrior) can save them, therefore, I'm less stressed. 😅

While it was entertaining, my tolerance for the road trip and Eva started to grind my gears. I was relieved when they returned home. However, this last one-fourth of the book dragged for me, probably because we didn't get to see much of (view spoiler) until the end. I liked that Mia (view spoiler) Although I wish she could have done something sooner. I suppose after reading the last 20%, I did like how the author showed how (view spoiler) .
Side note: I didn't like the inner monologues throughout the book, but, oh, well.
Has anyone read Adam and Mia's book, Dangerous? Adam and Mia are Eva's parents (father and stepmother). I really like Mia in this book and would like to read what she was like as a heroine. 😊
When I read the blurb for Book 3, I wondered how the characters were related to Eva's family (since some series are based on families or friends). Now I know the hero and his twin are the friends of the family since we see them briefly in this book. I read a review that mentioned they were attending Melissa's wedding (Melissa is Eva's younger sister). I wonder if she will be marrying Tommy. So yeah, I'll be reading that book to find out! 😁

@Jenny - You don’t have to read the previous one. Just note that the hero from this - Godric - decides to kidnap the heroine from #1 and the heroine from #2 - Eva - spoils the plot, this is starting on book #2. The reasons for kidnapping become clear in this story. I did not like #1 all that much.
This was a solid four star read for me. I do love a road trip!!!! It was fun and I liked the development of the characters and the romance.
Eva was very annoying for the first few chapters, but as you got to know her she became more likeable. I think I would have benefited from reading book 1 (and also Mia and Adams story, Dangerous) as I spent the first few chapters trying to connect the dots. Then again at the end, a lot of Eva's family were introduced and it would have been fun to know them from a previous story.
The ending did go on a bit. I am not sure I needed to know so much about the breeding of horses....and I skipped over most of that description. It felt a bit like she was spinning it out.
However - the adventure was fun, there was a bit of suspense and intrigue and the steamy sections were steamy. Not a perfect story in many ways - but a really enjoyable read. I will certainly be reading other books from this author.

But anyway ;-)
I liked this. Eva was immature maybe but she definitely wasn't passive which is also annoying. To be honest, I enjoyed the age difference, which is not always portrayed positively, but it just fit for these two. I agree that Godric was AWOL for too long in the end! LOL I will probably look for some of her other stories.

Bridgerton fans and readers of Grace Burrowes, Sophie Jordan, and Alexa Aston won’t want to miss this clever and exciting new love story from the acclaimed author of Notorious.

But honor demands he do right by the lady, no matter how stubbornly Eva tries to hold on to her independence. And while the road to the Scottish border is beset with danger, Godric’s greatest challenge is to keep his hands—and his heart—from his captivating bride-to-be
