Please only nominate one book.. The King book has already been chosen so don't list a King book. Check the bookshelf to see if we've already read the book as a group. To do this go to the bookshelf and type in the name of the book you want to nominate and if we've read it the book will appear. Try to link your book so I'm able to make sure I post the right one. Thanks

Books on the poll:

The Maid by Nita Prose
My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager
What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
The Fisherman by John Langan
The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice
Secret Identity by Alex Segura
The Auctioneer by Joan Samson
Quicksilver by Dean Koontz
Stoker's Wilde by Steven Hopstaken
Whiteout by Ken Follett
Open Season by C.J. Box
Paperbacks from Hell: The Twisted History of '70s and '80s Horror Fiction by Grady Hendrix
The Wolf Wants In by Laura McHugh
The Sleep Experiment by Jeremy Bates

I need some help with this. If I go to the shelf and type Dead Girls or Whiteout they both appear. But if I search the list myself, either by title or author, they don’t appear.

Yeah someone named Chris posted that message right after I put my book on there. Somebody else suggested THE MAID twice.
Sorry, I wasn’t meaning you. I read your post.

Not sure why it's doing that for you. But I checked as well and neither book is on the shelf. So, either will work if you want to nominate one...

message 11: by Mark (new)

Mark Lester (mlester72) | 3 comments So wait, I'm confused...we can nominate one book, any book, on the bookshelf in the group but not a King book? One that we personally have read, recently or in the past? And if it's on the shelf, that means it's been read by the group, does that mean we *can* nominate it?

You can nominate any one book, not written by Stephen King, that the group has not read before. Check the group's shelf to see what we have read. You don't have to have read it before, but you should be willing to read it if you nominate it.

Ok, as I still don’t see how to search the shelf I will nominate Whiteout

message 26: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfree46) | 48 comments Suzy, on the main Stephen King BOOKCLUB website where his picture is look to his upper right and you will see the word Bookshelf. Click on that and you will see a list of what shelf you want to see. Click on the one that says OTHER: NON-KING
That is the list of everything that has been read in that part of the group. I nominated MY SISTER THE SERIAL KILLER. If you don’t want to go to the trouble of checking the list for a Non-King book, I think you can just like on something that has already been nominated and your vote will be counted. Just don’t write the book out again because the same book can’t be nominated twice. Hope this helps. I am not an admin and I am still learning myself.

Kandice | 4383 comments Donna wrote: "But shouldn’t a Non-King book suggestion at least be in the thriller, suspense, horror genre? I thought it was supposed to be something that you think Stephen King would read or has suggested before?"

Those are not requirements. It simply needs to be a book not written by King himself. King reads outside the horror genre, so it's assumed that most of us do as well.

Thank you so much Donna. That’s what I did. I was referring to the tip how to search for a book, that search function is not for the shelf but all of GR books. So any book you type, will appear. Tried it with a Dutch children’s book and it showed up nonetheless 😂

message 33: by Donna (last edited Jun 11, 2022 05:30AM) (new)

Donna (dfree46) | 48 comments Susy, that was not the right place. This is what his Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Fan Page looks like. Up in the top right of the page is a list of a second tier of book clubs like the Spring Challenge, the Dark Tower readers, Books written as Richard Bachman, Buddy Reads and there is one that says OTHER, NON-KING and that is a long list of just Non-King but the list is single spaced and easy to skim through.
Here is the link: /topic/group...

This looks like the 3rd in a series, but very interesting and a good choice for the group, so I'll substitute the first book into the poll.

We didn't have a non-King for June. We typically do this every other month, with a King only book in the in between months.
