Although this started off not as good for me, it got better for me as the book moved along, particularly once Bri started her mandatory dates, more on that later, and that is in no way a spoiler.
The book blurb tells some, but, in short, a 25 year old American middle school teacher finds out she is an African princess and heir to a throne. Yes, another story like that, but with some fresh spins, and, refreshingly, it is quite contemporary with strong Christian women which is always better, IMO. One of the things I think Shiloh did very well, and kudos to her for listening to the advice of Nigerian woman (but this is a fictional island) because I thought the first two men very realistic indeed. The third was as well, but the first two were culturally spot on from what I have heard and read about Nigerian culture (not that all men are like this!)
It wasn't that hard to figure out who her main antagonist was (obviously there were a number opposed to a woman and/or an American ruling), although it wasn't immediate, but since this isn't a mystery or suspense novel, that's not a deterrent, and if you don't guess, so much the better because the reveal will be even better for you.
I'm not sure why To Win a Prince hasn't been made a book 2 and this a book 1, but that's up to the publisher. Apparently it's about Bri's friend Iris.
