Must be active in the buddy discussion to count for the points. Minimum of two comments talking about the contents of the book, not only "It's good, I like this/that."

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 346 comments Just finished Chapter 5 and finally we see some occurrences of the infamous hex! The writing makes me fly through it, though, so greatly enjoying that!

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 346 comments This feels like just and easy to read book that I’ve finished Chapter 10 as well, haha! I didn’t super enjoy these few chapters (apart from chapter 10, that is), though, as it was mostly the pining between the characters that hasn't changed at all despite the 10-year gap (unrealistic much?).

However, the 10th chapter had some action and I really appreciated that! Let’s see.

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments Starting this tonight after work! The boyfriend surprised me with plans yesterday so I didn't get any reading time lol

Elena Granger | 138 comments I want to read it too :)

Allyson (positivelybooked) | 117 comments Finally getting around to starting this today!

Allyson (positivelybooked) | 117 comments Okay, so I’m in the middle of chapter 6 right now and I just feel like something is missing. I don’t know what it is but it’s making me not enjoy this as much as I had hoped…I hope it picks up!

I totally agree! That's exactly what I thought while reading the book. Unrealistic in a wrong way.

Elena Granger | 138 comments I finished the book yesterday and indeed it's easy to read, the story is very simple and the witching aspect is quite nice. Besides that nothing special. I didn't get the purpose of this book at all. The relations between MCs are so bland, the part with his father... why was it there at all? Why that strange gap? What was the issue that he wanted to please his father so much? I just don't get the story at all. So many random things here and there, not really connected to each other and seems like they were thrown into the story without thinking, kinda 'just in case'.

Allyson (positivelybooked) | 117 comments I agree! I’m about halfway through the book and the characters just don’t have the kind of spark that I feel they should.

Allyson (positivelybooked) | 117 comments Okay I finished it and, while it was a fast-paced read, I didn't like it. It was such a letdown. The plot kept getting lost and I just wasn't a fan of the romance. It was so intense that you couldn't focus on the rest of the book.

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments I'm a third through. Maybe it is the going in with really low expectations after seeing ya'll's comments, or maybe it is because the audio, but I'm enjoying it so far. Not a lot of depth here and I'm not really invested in any of the characters but it's not awful lol.

Elena Granger | 138 comments It's definitely not awful, I wonder if my review made such an impression. It's still readable, but in my opinion it could have been better, much better with such a nice setting if the other parts had some development too, not only a romantic one.

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments No one's made it sound like it was awful! Just set the bar low for quality as far as the storyline and characters went. While I am still enjoying it at the half way mark, it is definitely missing something as Allyson pointed out when she was reading. I want to root for the love story but it isn't giving me much - don't tell me a couple sentences about how much they liked each other and still do, show me! And the magic is there, but man I wish there was more of it!

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments Finished this last night. I think the fact that I did this on audio helped me some, as the narration was decent, and it was easy to listen to. While there were a few fun parts, and the handful of steamy scenes were definitely good - overall this just felt generic and not a story or characters that I found myself invested in and rooting for

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 346 comments I'm still around 50% of the way through this book. Overall, it's very easy to get through once I start reading, but it's harder for me to pick up, given that it's so obvious where it's going *sigh*

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 346 comments Hey guys, sooo I finished it as well. Definitely not awful, I completely agree with you. I wasn't super invested, but it was very easy to read and so light that it got my mind of the topics I read in Mexican Gothic, haha. So, it did the job I wanted it to.
And, the steamy scenes were quite good, I also agree.

My only complain, really, is that Rhys's thoughts were very unrealistic, and mostly all about Vivi and pretty much nothing else. Haha, totally obvious that he was written from a female author's perspective.

Overall, nothing too memorable, but a good read to pass some time lightly and calmly!

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 599 comments Anyone planning to read book 2>?
