Halloween in my neighborhood is usually kind of boring because there usually aren't many families with kids, so it's just been another night for almost the entire time we've lived here. Last year was the first time we got a bunch of trick or treaters, and it was fun seeing all the kids in their costumes. I don't know if it's that we had a bunch of new people with school age kids move in our neighborhood or if the kids and their parents were tired of being cooped up because of the pandemic and needed a bit of harmless fun and to get out of the house, or possibly a combination of the two. (One family moved in right before Halloween last year, I think? I'm not sure about the other families, but I think it must have been their first Halloween in the neighborhood, because we got a huge and unexpected influx of kids trick or treating.)
