Anita Pomerantz | 9115 comments It's the time of year where administrators put their collective heads together and try to come up with 4-6 great challenge ideas to put up for the vote.

This year we thought we would try something different and incorporate some member ideas into the mix.

If you have an idea for a great 2023 challenge, please submit it via PERSONAL MESSAGE to either Anita or BooknBlues. The administrators will select their favorites and include them in the voting.

Please note, at this point, your idea does not need to be completely fleshed out. If we choose your idea, we will incorporate you into our planning process which takes an idea from a broad concept to a more refined version for a vote to a very refined version for actual play.

Right now, we just need broad concepts that are creative, sound fun and that we haven't done before. It's always nice if they aren't an administrative nightmare to manage, but that's not the most important criteria. The most important thing is that it's something our membership will LOVE!!

We look forward to hearing from you!!

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 10593 comments I don’t have a specific game idea, but I would love it if we had a challenge that could somehow incorporate or encourage books related to the environment and nature.

We lost an average of 69% of all species since 1971. Granted, there are thousands (or millions) of plant and animal species that we’ve never heard of, but they all play a role. Many, like bees and trees are more important than we knew.

I want to set a goal to read one every month. Some are light and cuddly, some are scary or dystopian, many are hopeful, entertaining, or practical. There are more fiction options every year, in many different genres including fantasy and sci-fi.

There are fiction and nonfiction books on all of these subjects: Ecology, conservation, trees, extreme weather, climate change, ecosystems, habitats, water shortages, gardening, farming, rain forests, bees, carbon foot prints, ocean life, endangered animals, garbage in our oceans, pollution, toxic chemicals, clean-up solutions, practical ideas, alternative energy, alternative food sources, loss of biodiversity, GMOs, global change efforts, invasive species, underappreciated forms of life, ancient germs trapped in ice, rise of sea levels, extinction, evolution, fascinating animals, genetics, interesting cultural practices, flora and fauna, population trends, deserts, migration, food solutions, etc.

If anyone can think of a way to make this fun - and give people a lot of options - I would be really grateful.
