Haha! We'll see. I may have made this list too soon, but I just couldn't wait.

message 4: by Carolien (new)

Carolien (carolien_s) | 502 comments Homegoing is amazing, but a difficult read. I'd like to see your thoughts on To the Lighthouse. I've so far only managed some of Virginia Woolf's short stories and I'm not sure I'm brave enough to tackle something longer yet. Enjoy your selection!

What a great list! Some interesting things I haven’t heard of, and I echo Carolien re Virginia Woolf.

Definitely a nice variety. I'll be interested in your thoughts on The Camel Club and The Tipping Point. I've enjoyed the Sookie books but I think I preferred the TV series. Still enjoyable for the most part. I haven't read To the Lighthouse but I did read Mrs. Dalloway and found Woolf to be most intriguing. Enjoy your selections.

Thanks, Carolien! I am nervous about Homegoing, I will have to be in the right frame of mind to read that one. I'm also nervous about Virginia Woolf. I read A Room of One's Own, and I can already tell that she's a good writer, but we don't have the same opinions on everything. That makes her writing something that is intriguing for me, because I cannot grow by only reading books by authors who have similar opinions to me. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks, Jennifer. I was so intimidated by Virginia Woolf for a long time, but I finally read the first book by her last year, and I'm sticking my toe into the water here. I may come to the same conclusion as you and Carolien, but at least I will know for sure. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, Bill. I am eager to start The Camel Club series, I hope I really enjoy it. And I've heard good things about The Tipping Point, we'll see. I haven't read any of the Sookie books or seen the TV series yet, so we'll see what I think. I have been trying to read past GRC Award selections, so I can see what all the fuss is about. I haven't read Mrs. Dalloway yet, we'll see how Ms. Woolf and I get on before I commit to any more of her works. :-)

I hope we both love it. When will you read it? I'm thinking I might try to read it in January, but I'm not sure yet. I am always a bit happy and sad at the same time to finish a beloved series.

I am hoping to read The Winners in January, but we'll see. It's a pretty big book and I have a few big books planned for December, so I may be all comic books and children's books in January if I get tired of reading big books. :-) I'll be eager to see what you think when you get a chance to read it too.

message 14: by Linette (new)

Linette | 169 comments Nice selection, lots of variety. I enjoyed the Sookie books some years back, light and enjoyable...if you can say that about vampires, lol. I'm interested in a few others, The Camel Club, The Space Between Worlds. Happy reading.

Thanks, Linette. I resisted the vampire genre at first when it was so popular, but my nieces got me into Twilight and the Jane Austen parodies, so I'm eager to read them next year. I enjoyed reading a easy series last year that everyone read, so I'm hoping to the same this coming year.

Shameless plug: Alissa and I are buddy reading The Space Between Worlds in March together and The Camel Club in April, and you are most welcome to join us.

Happy reading to you too!

I am not sure what I'll think about Sookie, but they were so popular. I was not into vampire novels initially, but like everything, I ease myself into these genres that I first say, "No, Never." I wanted something light and fluffy, so fingers crossed, maybe these will fit the bill. :-)

We are also doing Homegoing in May, so Lea you have lots of months to mentally prepare =)

Note to self: maybe don't try to read Homegoing and Jazz in the same month. :-)

message 20: by Carolien (new)

Carolien (carolien_s) | 502 comments Definitely don't do Homegoing and Jazz in the same month. The one advantage of Homegoing is that the structure lends itself quite nicely to one chapter a day and that is completely doable in a month. I'll probably join for Jazz if that is second half of the year.

Let me know when you want to read Jazz and we can definitely do a buddy read. Other than not wanting to read it in May because we plan to read Homegoing, I'm pretty flexible.

Hey, Lea! The list is looking pretty good, pretty good.

It has been years since I read Jazz. I do hope you enjoy it. Her early works are perfect to me.

Good luck and happy reading, as always. 📚☺️

Thanks, Jackie! These lists are so dangerous, aren't they? I think I've added like 40 books to my TBR, which wouldn't be so bad, except most of them are series books, so you know I've really added more. :-)

Thanks, Alondra. This list was pretty random. There's something I love about series lists and something I love about not having series lists!!

I love Malcolm Gladwell. I think I read them all but his newest one.

Hope they are all 4+ star reads!

Lea (leaspot) | 3513 comments Alondra wrote: "I feel that! Sometimes its overwhelming when you are way behind."

Yes! And sometimes I am in the mood to keep reading and reading the entire series, so I would be happy if the 12 + 4 list was all the rest of that one series.

But other times, I think, "that was good, but I want to read something else now." In the case, I would do better to just put the next book in the series for 16 series on my list.

It's hard to know which type of series list to make. :-)

True. I am just going to try and catch-up. Jumping back into these series is like snuggling up with a warm blanket. It's a comfort thing, so, I should really be more progressed; as any of us should be. Ya know?? Usually we are familiar with the characters, feel the nuance, are deeply involved in the plot and enjoy the pacing. Then we ghost the series.... alas! Readers!

It's so true! Us readers have to decide which blanket we need. Sometimes we just want a light blanket, and other times, we need the cozy heavy blanket that heats. It just depends on our mood. And we readers are a moody lot. :-)

Lindsey, well turnabout is fair play then, because I added a bunch of your books to my lists also. I am hit or miss on Hildebrand, I loved The Rumor but wasn't too impressed with the book I read last year The Blue Bistro. Here's hoping this one is really good too.
