dely | 5483 comments 1) Italiani, brava gente? by Angelo Del Boca Italiani, brava gente? di Angelo Del Boca 3*

There is no English edition of this book. It talks about Italian colonies of the last century. Though English, French or Spanish colonies are more famous because there were much more and they lasted for much longer, Italy has its colonizer past too (sadly). Maybe you don't know, but there is an opinion about Italians being good people, peaceful and helpful. With this opinion we always tried to hide our past as colonizers that did a lot of harm killing. torturing and enslaving thousands of people, above all in Africa. Well, this book, finally, tells the truth with a very huge and wide documentation, that Italians were no better than other colonizers.
It was a very interesting read, but also very very tough.

There is no English edition. It is a book about my father's hometown. It is a collection of poems and short writings written by the people of this small village. It was nice, also full of pictures and QR codes to see places, events or religious festivities.

Dely!

I've been very poor at keeping tabs on my friend's readings this year. Great to see the country read challenges still going strong.

As far as Indian reading goes I recommend JCB Literary Award books. They are mostly Indian translations or English written books set in contemporary settings. Do try them out!

For Nagaland, try books by Easterine Kire. Karnataka - Read Vivek Shanbagh and for Andhra Pradesh, I read this book called Giligadu: The Lost Days.

Oh well, I've been poor to keep my reading progress updated so don't worry if you hadn't time to follow the other members' discussions! :D

Thanks for the recommendations! Easterine Kire is in my wishlist and I already read Giligadu. Will check out Shanbagh!
