**First it was the fact that it was FIVE narrators/POV's. Then two of those narrators weren't great [one was awful and of course his chapter was the longest]. THEN it was the fact that there are no chapter numbers, just the characters names as headings. THEN it was, after 20 chapters, with the perspective of all five of the POV's [in third person], the moving into FIRST person [and this alternates apparently through the whole book] and the bestie and I decided it was time to move on. UGH.

** AFTER all that audiobook nonsense, I ended up DNF'ing this book. What a waste. The first part was lush and gorgeous and then part 2 starts and its a HUGE time jump, jarring and yuck and filled with both all new characters AND unlikeable ones at that. I tried to stick with it but when I realized that the time jump was going to be a thing for the whole book, I was done. SO disappointed.

5 of my holds came in on Sunday. 🤣 I staggered 3 of them over the 3 days you can wait before you lose your place in line and moved the other 2 to next in line.

I got another one that was supposed to be a several months wait today and I pushed that to June. I am just resigned to being MONTHS behind in all my NG books. I figure if they don't like it they can stop accepting me. ;-)
In all honesty, I am trying to NOT stress about it, but because there is extra stress at home right now, every little thing is magnified. I think I need to start meditating again.

lol oh noooo!!! Honestly, I didn't think it got better. I did finish it. I buddy read it in a NetGalley group and none of us really liked it. My 3 stars was generous. It was pretty painful. Nothing really makes sense for a long time and then there are still unanswered questions at the end. Other people have really liked it? lol.

I am starting July with 8 past due NetGalley books [trying to find audiobooks is just no joke and with my eyes getting worse, it what I have to do - it is going to lead to me not requesting as many NG books next year or only ones I know I can get from libraries] and have 10 for this month [which I will be shoving in where I can], which I was initially excited about as I usually have close to 18. It is what it is, and I AM excited to be able to read more of RWYO and RAtW because I have less NG [sort of LOL]. I read some really amazing books in June, but I do not recommend reading three books about race, slavery and desegregation all at the same time. My heart seriously hurt by the end of the third one that is for sure. I can HIGHLY recommend all those books though and I personally think that everyone should be reading these books [especially with what is happening today in places like Florida and Texas].

This was a DNF for me on e-book. It was so ding dang boring. Hopefully the audiobook is a little more engaging. I was interested after watching the movie. Lost interest quickly. lol

I have read a lot of reviews like this and I am preparing for that just in case. I am hoping the audiobook is excellent, but even a good narrator cannot save bad writing.

I am totally not reading this now after much thought - I will read it eventually, but I just don't have "time" to deal with a subject that should be awesome and isn't due to boring writing. ;-)
