Catherine | 2958 comments What books have been on your to-read for forever? What kind of books are you looking to read next?

message 2: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 2958 comments Let's see...The Inheritance Games has been recommended to me numerous times, but I've never gotten to it! I think it's a series, and there are so many series that I haven't finished yet😄

Kacie I really really wanna read Celeste Baxendell 's books but they're a little too daunting for now what with all my school and such

Catherine | 2958 comments Oo, fantasy! My favorite genre:) Aww, makes sense- hopefully you'll eventually find some time to dive into her books! How'd you find out about her?

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

War and Peace, Frankenstein, & Villette.

message 6: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 2958 comments War and Peace!! That's impressive. How far through are you? I haven't heard of Villette before! Do you like it?

message 7: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 2958 comments I've heard that Frankenstein is good:))

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only gotten to chapter 2 lol (in War and Peace). I haven't started Villette, but I love the Bronte sister's writing, so I'm very excited to read it! Yeah I have heard that, and I love books like Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, so I think I'll really like reading Frankenstein.

Catherine | 2958 comments Haha, that's still impressive! I'm guessing that the chapters are long in War and Peace?

Very cool! What other books by the Bronte sisters have you read?

I bet you will! Let me know how you like it:))

Cate (redaugust) I came in a little late on this conversation, but I wanted to just drop this here.
I read an abridged version of W&P in 11th grade, and it was still 600 pgs long. But it's REALLY good. If you like historical romance (and you have nothing to do for about six months XD), then this is a great book for you. I plan to read the whole book someday. :D

Yeah the chapters are pretty long lol...and half of the dialogue is in French so I have to refer to the translation notes at the bottom of the pages a lot. I've read Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Oh yeah I gotcha! I have the original version that's not abridged, but my goal is to get it read in a couple months. I'm a relatively fast reader, but the book still has 1,200 pages (so it will probably honestly end up taking me a little bit longer).

Cate, glad you joined! Haha, I replied so late I'm not sure if anyone's ever going to reply, but I might as well.

Really? Do you think those 600 pages could be cut down even more? Huh, I actually didn't know it was a historical romance- that's a loong romance book. Good for you! Let me know when you do, and how you like it compared to the abridged version!

Sorry for the late reply!

Really? Another new thing I learned today. Nice! I will read them someday, or at least Jane Eyre:) What other authors do you like?

message 15: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 2958 comments So, um, I haven't really been reading recently, but hopefully I'll read Screwtape Letters this month. I also really want to finish the Scythe series:))
