I realize some people do not know that they're even supposed to put SOLVED in their topic when a book is found, but for those of us who do I think it would be considerate to put the thread in the appropriate solved folder. Too much for Rebecca the moderator to do if most of us don't do that.

I just discovered we are to label found titles as SOLVED. I attempted to do that with my post 'NF author bullied in HS/Wants to go to reunion'. The title is Please Stop Laughing at Me. I don't think I did it correctly though. I hate to mess up your order, so please help me fix this. Thanks!

I would want all threads to continue to be available forever; the solved ones are a great resource and it's not uncommon for very old solved ones to get solved.
Edit: If you (or anybody) wants to work on these sooner, I suggest messaging Rebecca and requesting moderator status.
Edit again: The top showing ones in the unsolved are at least the ones with the most recent messages.

If you don't want to browse ones past the first page, don't. Problem solved! ;)

Thank you. :-)
That's how I look at it too.
And it's already a big job to move solved threads to the various solved folders. Which is gratifying and is necessary to keep things here organized.

ETA: I know I'm not an active commenter, but I do read this group every day.

ETA: Nevermind! Rebecca must be reading through email too, because she got back to me right away. I'll start sorting those I can figure out!

I've been trying to keep up with the solved but I wait for the original poster to come back to say it's the right book - otherwise at most I put them in the probably solved folder. I realize some posters never come back to check.
I think any moderator can add another moderator but I still think of this as Rebecca's group so I'd leave that up to her.

I wish I knew more of the books though...my memory is bad enough that I can't remember what I read last year!

Thanks for finding those I'd missed.
I also saw some that needed moving to the possibly solved folder but the ones I moved some of the original posters thought the thread had been deleted because they couldn't find it, so mixed feelings about losing it. Maybe we need an addition to the group's description letting members to look in both the unsolved and possibly solved folders for their queries.
What do you think? What do all members think?

BTW, if I could be of any help...just let me know. I mean, I could add books to the shelf at least.

If you - and all of you - can add found books to shelves that would be a huge help and much appreciated!

I am sorry, it has been awhile since I was ABLE to get in here....and it has been a VERY long time since I was able to check on the book I was looking for...but I can't seem to find it....

Yes, There's so much at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ we're all continually learning new ways to do things, how to do things, finding new or existing features, etc. I'm glad you did figure it out though, Miriam.

Perhaps create a button that would do it?
thx!

George, As I explained before, there is no way to create a button. These boards are the infrastructure of Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and we have to do it the way that we do it.
I think that you'll get used to this way.
Most seem to find it easy enough.
Once you've done it a few times it will be a quick process and seem like second nature, at least I hope so.

You can make a suggestion for buttons over at the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Feedback group. Use the questions and suggestions folder if you post a message about this there.

I ask this because I have the impression that there are many more new queries than there used to be, and I am missing books which I might be able to help on because they're lost among all those I know I can't help on. There are huge numbers of fantasy books - I never read them and can't help. Ditto YA.
I know they're often identified as fantasy or YA in the title (or it's apparent from the title description) and so I don't have to waste time opening each one, but the point I'm making is that there are so many of them that the others get lost among them and never seen because they go off the bottom of the visible threads.
Periodically I do open up the Group page and check down the list, but I think it would benefit everyone if books were grouped together, so that one could open up e.g. Historical Romance or Mystery, and check the unsolved threads in there, and ignore Fantasy and YA. I think that there's a greater chance of the query being solved because its more likely to be seen by those who know the book.
I know you're having to work within the constraints of Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, and maybe that doesn't give you enough layers?

I agree completely with this. I think the group could really benefit from more folders. Posts are getting bumped off the main page much too quickly right now.

Two things: seekers who care 'bump' their threads, so if you don't see it this time around you might next time, and if you have to dig to find, well, they probably don't care anymore ...
and: there are so many queries we volunteer moderators are swamped as is, and making folders would be quite a chore, especially at this late date. If any of you care enough to take on the task, and can vow to do your darndest to commit for at least several months, please send me a PM.
I agree with Cheryl.
Other things to consider:
* People already make errors about posting in the Unsolved Folder. Adding numerous Genre Folders would be confusing.
* I like the mish-mash of genres. I just kind of browse through them, even if I know I'm practically useless on Romance books. I share in the satisfaction of a book found and returned to its seeker.
* Genres can be confusing. One person's Romance is another person's Western. Where is the line drawn between Science Fiction and Fantasy?

I still like the idea of somehow doing something to be a little more organized so we can be more efficiently helpful. I just have no guess what would actually work.

I have become completely frustrated because the situation has worsened, and fantasy and YA books seem to drown out any queries on which I may be able to help. So I've decided to leave the group.
I've been MIA from the goodreads community for awhile, so I didn't realize we finally have the ability to make and sort folders for our group discussions--woohoo! A big thanks to symbol for messaging me about it, otherwise I may have never noticed.
I made a few folders for solved books: Children's/YA SOLVED, Adult Fiction SOLVED and Nonfiction SOLVED. Let me know how this system works for you and we can tweak it if we need to.
I also added this Group Suggestions folder, for... (you guessed it!) suggestions to make the group run a little more smoothly.
I look forward to hearing from you!
:) Rebecca
