Miruna | 3 comments Hello!
I need help finding a book and based on the group's discussions I figured here would be the best place to ask my question.

I'm looking for a book - a horror/thriller, about a detective who's investigating some horrible crimes taking place in his city. He doesn't have any clues regarding who the killer might be, only that the victims are disfigured. The thing is that he is the killer - at night he transforms into a beast, I don't really remember if it was necessarily a werewolf.

From what I remember, the book's cover has a man's face, in a snarl, with big teeth, and whiskers (?, I'm not really sure) and he is looking to the side. Also, when he puts all the pieces together and discovers that he's the killer, he asks a colleague to shoot him the next time he transforms, because that's the only way to stop him (if I remember correctly).
The book was published in Romania if it's of any help.

I appreciate any kind of help! Thank you!
(I apologize if my English is not very good, it's not my first language.)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) | 23 comments Well apart from the detective bit, it actually sounds like The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, but that's a 19th century book! Was this one modern, Miruna? It might have been a retelling with an extra frame story.

It is a modern book, I think I bought it around 2010 and I think it was published around that time also, give or take some years. I hope I'm not mistaken...

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) | 23 comments Sorry not to be more help ... perhaps someone has based a modern story on the classic tale?

Miruna | 3 comments It's ok, I just hope someone will know what I'm talking about😂
Perhaps it's a modern story based on a classic tale, but I don't really know...
