It's always fun and exciting to dive back into Kate's world, where magic and tech come and go in waves and the world is populated by all kinds of interesting characters and monsters. This installment was told from Andrea's POV, not Kate's, but it was still an exciting and fantastic read. There were some minor characters that got a bigger storyline, which was awesome, and a fascinating murder mystery that took some serious imagination to come up with. Kudos to the Ilona Andrews team!

I've been reading this series off and on for the past several years, and it never gets old. Harry Dresden is one of my all time favorite characters, a down on his luck wizard who does the best he can with what he has, facing overwhelming odds most of the time. In this book, he's basically forced into an investigation by the Winter Queen Mab. There's all kinds of mayhem that ensues, and of course, his long lost love that he thought was dead all these years makes a comeback. The story is fast-paced and full of twists and turns, perfect for keeping me entertained for a few hours.

Enjoyed this new author and story. I was drawn right in to the story. Love the MC Zasha, she is strong and feisty. As she was dealing with the death of her father she is kidnapped and changed into a werewolf by dark magic. She is forced to fight in a match to the death against other captive wolves. She is reluctantly rescued by the Smokey Mountain pack. Loved the characters and the action. There is just a little world building in this one but it's enough to set up the next book. We do get to see the MC's strength and character. And I look forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

Eve & Peabody are called to a Broadway A-lister party as a murder has taken out one of the owners, also an A-lister. So a murder by cyanide in the midst of 200 people, surely someone saw something?

The whole premise is who was the poison meant for? The wife or the husband?

Does the death of an up & coming starlet 25 years ago have anything to do with the present case?

Really enjoyed this one, also Eve & Roarke just showcase how much they love each other, throughout the series, but especially in this one.

Big kudos to Roarke who gifts everyone in homicide with magic linings, just like Eves', so they can repel stabbing knives, stuns, projectiles. Eve is overcome and makes Roarke stand there and take the credit from the bullpen. Eve's magic coats have been the prototype all along.

Peabody's kitchen is nearly finished and can't wait to find out how the craft room will go ~ bold or pastel.

Deke is suffering with touch-hunger and Bailey decides to help him out.

Like all of SW's books, there is the feisty heroine, over protective hero, great friend characters, villain after one or both of them, lots of action, more than one villain to make it more interesting.

Enjoyed this one.

Midnight Bay is part of the Highlanders series by JC. The premise for Highlanders, which carries over to Midnight Bay and also Spellbound Falls, is that a magic wielding Druidh from the 11th century, brings 2 lots of warriors through to present day Pine Creek, Maine.

Our heroine Fiona, dies back in the 11th century, is a red-tail hawk for centuries and is then made human again by wizard Mac (Maximilian Oceanus). Our hero, Trace, is a lobster fisherman in Maine after retiring from the military.

Both our MCs are a mess of fears and anxieties, and fight through them to reach the inevitable HEA.

Meanwhile Mac has brought raging storms & snarling demons to Midnight Bay, and has no clue who is behind it.

Whilst I feel this story isn't as good as previous books in the series, it is still certainly engaging and we do catch up with other MCs from previous books.

This one Kate meets Julie for the first time. I loved how she instantly started identifying her as "my kid", even as she was on the hunt for Julie's mom. Kate is still kicking ass, but she's also starting to show that there's more to her than just being a badass. The story is again excellent, fast, with great fighting scenes and lots of banter. Definitely a fun read.

Great continuation. Zasha is growing into having a wolf and starting to accept her place in the pack. She and Quannah are also starting to develop feelings and explore their attraction to one another. Zasha has vengeance on her mind towards the men who forcibly made her a wolf and the hunters coming after her pack. The action and romance are picking up in this book. Enjoying the series and Can't wait to see what happens next.

REVIEW:
Loved it. This is the 1st book in the Lorimar pack series but not in this world. Even though I didn't start at the beginning it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. Dell is beta of her pack and in charge while her alphas are away. She has to deal with hostile fae, disappearing humans and relationship woes. Loved the characters, loved the story. There was great action and I was pulled right in. The ending left me in suspense and I will be diving right in to the next book.

Review: Wow wow wow. I think this is one of the strongest books in the series. The intensity of the action and the intensity between Kate and Curran just made the story fly by. I was on pins and needles when they were fighting in the arena, and then to have Kate make that one desperate move to save everyone, oh man. I was blown away and glued to the pages until the end.

Kate and Curran are officially mated now, which presents some interesting dynamics for Kate as she learns how to compromise while still maintaining her own identity and doing what she loves, fighting the bad guys. And there are some pretty terrifying bad guys in this book. Fanatics who want to eradicate all magic in the world, killing everyone who has magic as part of who they are. It was fascinating to see how this common enemy brought all the magic beings together to fight against this common enemy, even while they knew that once they took care of the crazy people they were all going to be back to usual status quo of hating each other's guts. Again, non-stop action, but this time there was a lot more romance involved too, as Kate and Curran adjust to mated life. Another excellent story in this series.

Our feisty heroine is Tock, a honey badger, basketball teammate of Max MacKilligan, Nelle, Streep and Mads of the last book.

Our laidback hero is Shay Malone, Amur tiger shifter, dad of Dani, brother to Keane, Finn of the last book and Dale.

Lots of action, plenty of maths, puppies, poison, Stevie, murder & mayhem of baddies, and heaps of cameos of nearly every shifter from previous books.

Revenge is the reason for most of the action, from both sides.

This story ends rather abruptly, but just makes me want the next one asap.
