Hey everyone. Figured you'd all get a kick out of this. NASA has a new app out for hunting asteroids.
Or course you'd have to have a telescope (I imagine a computer controlled one would be best so you can track the sky) and a CCD camera mount and camera to take pictures. The images need to be in a FITS format for the app to analyze.
I'm guessing the app probably works like other astrometry programs out there like Astrometrica or the Subaru Image Processor: Makali'i. I'm not sure. But it's supposedly 15% better than current methods of detection.
