This is the year for it... Wind and Truth is the end of the first arc of the series... there'll be a 15 year time jump between arcs, unless that's changed, and he won't be starting to write book 6 until around 2030?... he's got 5+ other Cosmere books to write first... Mistborn 8-10 and Elantris 2-3, minimum... he wants to write those 5 books before releasing any, probably for plotting reasons and the growing amount of crossovers to manage... so they aren't expected to start releasing until 2028, since he'll be writing them 2025-2027... the life of a Sanderson fan... at least he's transparent about most everything...
He's also novelizing White Sands, finally, instead of just having that first draft intro and comic series to tell the story... that's expected in 2025, before the Mistborn/etc stuff...
So... long story short... JOIN US!!!

I'm super hyped for the release of #5... and to find out how the arc ends and the 15 year time jump happens before the 2nd sequence/arc starts in book 6-10 in 2030+...
My prevailing theory is (view spoiler)

Ooohhh exciting!!!
Nirkatze you are cray... I loved this too, but there's no way I could read it in two days!!
Ahhh Choko in for another re-read too...
And Iain of course, you can't whisper Cosmere in here without Iain being too far behind :p
I won't be re-reading, it's just too soon for me, but I will follow along the threads for a refresher on everything...

I don't thing it was specifically two days, but maybe three or four... I remember thinking I'd need a week and instead devoured in a weekend... they're just so tasty... no knowing how long it will take this time around...

Picked a great year for it, with the first 5 book arc ending in December...

Ha! I just mentioned this on the welcome thread, glad you found your way here.
I'd also recommend reading at least Warbreaker before Stormlight book 3, to get the most out of it... It's not necessary, but there are some fun easter eggs. Stormlight stands pretty well on its own so far... Other folks have any recommendations?
Besides reading Elantris & Emperor's Soul before Mistborn Era 2 book 4...

Solid reading order... Arcanum Unbound covers alot of the unmentioned wildcards I was mentioning to people in other threads, like Emperor's Soul and Sixth of Dawn...

I might recommend slotting in Wild Card 2: White Sand earlier, at least before Arcanum Unbounded, since Khris is the author of the Ars Arcanum...

You may as well slot it in WITH Arcanum Unbound, since that's where you can hear the White Sands Prime chapters, I think?...
I like reading around then, because the main times she appears on-page in the Cosmere books to date are Secret History (Arcanum Unbound) and the Wax & Wayne trilogy (when she asks Wax a bunch of probing questions about Twinborn compounding)...

It’s only the first few chapters of the prime if I remember correctly. I would recommend the full prime (which is an awesome unpublished book but no longer considered canon) or the White Sands graphic novels.
Yea... nothing more than the first chapters of the trial are recorded on audio... I think the non-canon full-length novel has been mostly pulled from circulation, now that a rewrite is on the schedule, finally...

Used to be you could get one just by emailing him and asking for it lol. But I’m excited for a canon version. I really didn’t like the illustrations in the graphic novel so i never finished it. The only version of the book I know is the non canon prime.

agreed... i like my stories i followed some more standalone web comic strips, back in the day... been over a decade now

1) Yes, White Sands the novel is coming
2) I don't think Sanderson planned to make White Sands a graphic novel... I think Dark Horse was excited at the chance to make something with Sanderson, and latched onto White Sands, or he suggested it, and that's where it ended up...
I'm glad White Sands is coming, as well... because the Prime draft chapters & the graphic novel felt like the tip of the iceberg... stories take so long to tell in comic form... 3 issues isn't nearly enough... not sure I ever finished...

I like the prime chapters for the worldbuilding/etc... but the comics are the only place you're going to see Khrissalla and Nazh, I think... and that's who we've been talking about as someone to meet as a prominent worldhopper in other series...

The first is on audible plus, which is weird to have a graphic novel audiobook.
Actually... it's Graphics Audio... I think that makes sense, and I actually might try it...
I think Graphics Audio might be a better fit for graphic novelizations... Graphics Audio feels like the audio corollary to comics vs books, anyway... they're generally abridged stories with sound effects / etc...

I HIGHLY recommend the audios of The Sandman, there are 3 so far & I swear they announced a 4th but that was forever ago so who knows what is going on with that one.

The Sandman: Act I was excellent. I haven't listened to parts 2 & 3 yet, but the first was really good.

Yea... publication order is important with Sanderson, to get the connections in the right order, and not spoil stuff, especially in recent years... pre-2020, it felt relatively safe to read most in any order you wanted...

Rhythm of War was the first time I felt like Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection was 100% necessary (generally recommended between Stormlight 2-3, since it contains Stormlight 2.5 as well)...
And The Lost Metal spoils some big Stormlight stuff, if you haven't read 1-4 yet...

Stumbled onto this great episode of Brandon's podcast, at work today, where he and his wife explain how Dragonsteel Entertainment went from being a small family business run out of their home into what it is today, with 54 employees and a new warehouse office space...

Had to randomly watch that--thank you for sharing! Very interesting...
It's only 20-30 minutes (I think episodes with Dan Wells usually run closer to 1hr), and it was great... I'd have loved to hear more... they've definitely grown alot in the past 5 years... I'm curious what secret plans he has for the future...

Books mentioned in this topic
Elantris (other topics)The Way of Kings (other topics)
The Cycle of Galand (other topics)
The Shattered Path (other topics)

Happy Reading!
