SarahKat | 5921 comments This thread is to discuss Eragon, the first book in the Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini.

Pages: 503 pages

Length: 1 month (March)

Participants: Lorraine, Kristy, Michelle3, Jan

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Kristy Johnston | 598 comments I started the audiobook for this one over the weekend. It's been very enjoyable so far. Not sure why I've been putting this off since purchasing the kindle bundle over a decade ago.

Lorraine | 2122 comments It’s funny you say that because I was wondering why I stopped reading this series as I am also enjoying this first book.

Jan farnworth (tweetybugshouse) I read the first two and then neve4 got back to them so here to trying the series again

Lorraine | 2122 comments Did you know Paolini was only 19 years old when Eragon was published? He started writing it when he was 15th. I kind of remember that while reading the book. (view spoiler) But it’s still very good.

I had forgotten how young he was when the first book came out. Curious to see how he grows as a writer over the course of the series.

Michelle Taylor | 3 comments Hey all,

I'm hoping to start tonight. I also read the first two. I bought the third but never got around to reading it. So wanted to do a reread to get back into it.

Megan (sporadic hiatus due to law school) (excessivenarwhal) | 172 comments Hello all; I first read this series when I was a kid and have loved it ever since. I've been meaning to do a reread, so if it's alright with you all, I'd love to join in!

Jannene | 837 comments Hey all, I didn't have my name as joining but I may crash on this one. I have the book and my nephew loved it so I think I may have to try it.

Kristy Johnston | 598 comments I loved the characters in this one. Eragon and Sapphire have such a great relationship. I'm actually going back and rereading sections.

Lorraine | 2122 comments I have finished. I remember liking Eragon and buying copies for underprivileged childrens so they can experience this great story. Still think this is a very good book. Looking forward to book 2. I know I also read it when it came out but for now, do not remember the story.

You are welcome Jannene!

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) | 1 comments Is it too late to join? I actually found Eragon in a secondhand book store over the weekend and have been wanting to re-read it. I read the first three years ago but barely remember the story so want to give them a reread (and hopefully correct my two star ratings :$)

Lorraine | 2122 comments You are welcome Ellen. Hope you’ll like it more this time!

Michelle Taylor | 3 comments I've been enjoying my reread. My 3 star rating with it will stand. I'm 100 pages from the end. Taken me a little longer to finish then I thought it would. I forgot about some of the good set up it had for things in book 2. Glad I went back for a reread. Looking forward to seeing how the author grew across the books.

Megan (sporadic hiatus due to law school) (excessivenarwhal) | 172 comments Finished it JUST in the nick of time haha. I did keep it at its five-star rating because though it does sometimes feel young, I love the idea and the pacing of the story. I will be joining you all next month for Eldest!
